Vista Home Edition questions. How to activate the "bonger" that alerts you mail has arrived, and how to make email auto-download from ISP to the computer without having to hit F9. I'm using Vista's I.E. Explorer for web browser, and the full blown version of Outlook that comes with MS Office 2002 for email reader (and Word for email editor).

Go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds and make sure the the sound for "New Mail" is turned on. Next, open the Windows Mail and click Tools, Options. On the General tab make sure there is a check mark in "Play sound when new messages arrive". Put a check mark in the next box "Send and receive messages at startup"

These instructions are for "Windows Mail". Older versions of Outlook seem to be having problems with Vista. Since Vista has it's own callender, etc, and if you are not opperating an offic with more the a few computers I don't see the need for Outlook. It is very bloated and designed for enterprise applications.
