Because most people are selfish and inconsiderate, its that simple. Its always all about them, and there is no respect for anyone else.

The best part of driving is this: You have no parking on the street between certain hours except for city buses. People always fly down the right lane then get stopped by a delivery truck, then try to cut in line....lol

Haven't you noticed?
Driving has become a competitive non-sport.
Like all the rest of our selfish society, it's "me first" and "this is MY lane, you yield."

Yup, it's one of my pet gripes too.
But if push comes to shove, my fins will get'em every time!
No one seems to want to mess with THIS tank!

In Los Angeles, its whoever gets there first. You never use your turn signal because that results in people speeding up to make sure you don't get their spot. That's why I drive cars that "outrun" everyone. It's a dog eat dog world out there.

because you get that the people who are shisty and try to cut in front. I usually make eye contact and point to them, gesturing for them to get behind me. I do it in a non aggressive way and if they don't observe my request and my window's rolled down I'll yell:

hey pal we take turns and you're behind me!! They get shocked, nod their head and get behind me.

the nah uh finger wag works as well.
