I agree. And what's more, I think fanatics and fundamentalists of any religion are truly sad and bitter individuals trying to rid the world of their "enimies" The nobility of intellect has never touched them and told them that "When you become obsessed with the enemy, you become the enemy"

Fundamental Christians believe in the fundamentals of their faith. At least they are honest about it.
Churches that have abandoned the authority of the Bible (for example) buy into all kinds of things that Jesus is against. Once you eliminate God's Word as a standard, you can do just about anything.
One example, substitute "love" for the "Gospel." While the Gospel is about how much God loved the world, by giving His only begotten Son, churches that have abandoned the authority of the Bible rarely, if ever, mention the reason they do what they do.
Jesus said this about churches like these: "You have there some who hold to the teaching of Balaam, the one who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the people of Israel so that they would eat food sacrificed to idols and practice immorality. You also have some who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. So repent. If you don't, I will come to you quickly and wage war against them with the sword of my mouth." (Revelation 2:14-16)
When the Bible is reduced to moral stories, or allegory, it becomes meaningless, and the people do the things Jesus condemns.

Galatians 4:16 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
16Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?
Psalm 14
1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
"Fundamental" Christians as you call them are those of us who attempt (although we still fail on a regular basis) to follow the word of God. We believe that the bible is the infallible word of the living God and that His word is perfect. There are those in society that take the bible and play pick and choose. I follow this verse but not that verse, etc. Those that reject certian parts of the bible are doubting the whole word of God. You have some that simply ignore the old testament due to the fact it is hard to understand. My suggestion is to find a good bible teacher so that you can understand it. I suggest Dr. J. Vernon McGee (www.thruthebible.org). He goes through the entire bible, every book, every five years. He passed away in the mid - 80's but his minisry continues. Even if you are not a Christian, give it a try if you have ever had any questions about the bible. The downloads for any lesson are free and only take about 30 minutes a day. The old testament and new are interconnected with Christ being the bridge. The old testament is both a history book, a code of law, and a book of prophecy. And all of them speak to the coming of Christ. Christ is found in the law (He came to fulfill the law, not abolish it), in the history (see Joseph), and, of course, prophecy. The old testament is like a long novel with Christ being the happy ending and both a beginning to a new life. So, if by following the word of God (who you say is unloving ((but He created me and gave His only Son for me)), unfair ((again, see Christ)), and ficticious) I am a "mental slave, then so be it.
Have a great day and God bless you.

I could say that I am not a fundamental Christian since I am a Nazorean Gnostic, living like a hermit with a more Catholic viewpoint. Have compassionon your fellow man - do not look for weakness- but seek and bolster weaknesses.
My respect, blessings and peace.

Why can't you feel happy for them for having found something strong that fills their live?.
That goes for people of any religion really.
I don't have to agree with them, and rarely do, to appreciate that they have found a purpose in their lives.
Better a slave to God than to drugs, or another human being.

As my friends. I love every one of them.
The ones I worry about are the loosy goosy grace, sloppy agape, good times rock and roll christians. I still love them but I pray for their deliverance from the strong delusion God has sent them because they do not love the truth.
