I have a friend who suffers from depression. Within the last couple of weeks he lost his father and has been extremely stress out. Here lately he has been on edge and verbally abusive to his gf and some of his other friend. And it seems like he yells at his kids all the time. I am very concerned that he is about to snap and become physically abusive. How should this be addressed and can his depression lead to being phycially as well as more verbally abusive? HELP?

i have had depression before, but i dont have kids...
when i was depressed, i wanted to hurt myself but not others.
idk if eryone is like that, but maybe
theres always a possibility, like that he mite get so stressd, or he mite "accidently" snap
i would tell his gf to BE CAREFUL around him
tell her to try and not make him mad
choose her battles
and if she wants to say something about it to him
dont be mean
be nice
and calm
use soft tones
and if he starts to overreact, dont be mean, but be firm
if you need anymore help
you can email me
GOOD LUCK

What it sounds like is he has had a lot going on and he doesn't know how to face his feelings and trying to run away from it. I would try to talk to him and also get him to see a therapist, he might need meds to help him. He needs to talk about his problems because it can lead to abuse if he doesn't get the help he needs.

no, he needs support. If she leaves and takes the kids he will probably burst. not good. Try counciling. the county should offer free counciling. Go see some one in city hall and give her the info they give you.

by the way, what did the doc say about your wrist?
