You are not alone.

Follow the path of the unsafe, independent thinker. Expose your ideas to the dangers of controversy. Speak your mind and fear less the label of 'crackpot' than the stigma of conformity. And on issues that seem important to you, stand up and be counted at any cost.

No you aren't the only one. But some people are so convinced that religion is true that they will find you comments offensive. Personally I don't mind what people believe though I raise an eyebrow at Scientologists and shake my head in disbelief during Ramadan when you've got millions of people starving themselves all day - probably because there was a bad harvest a couple of thousand years ago and the village chiefs wanted to preserve rations. As long as it doesn't affect or try to influence me I don't care what mumbo jumbo they pander too.

Hey, I believe what I believe,

its not about questioning and proof, its not about the word of god as interpreted by man in the book that we call the Bible,

I agree that science is and has accurately proved that there are issues,

however, I have faith that there is a higher power, I believe that, not all things are understood,

the problem with most people is that they want god to fit into what their idea of god is, unfortunately(for them) its more of of him wanting you to fit into his idea of what man is,

so many preachers would have you believe that there is NO ROOM for human error, there is,

so many would have you believe that you can only repent for unknowingly sinning, that's not possible, even preachers sin,

we all have at one time or another and even currently , had lust, greed, envy, gluttony , vanity, pride, sloth, wrath, Or some other thing that is considered to be against his word,

when I pray about these things i find that the message is about the same, just have faith, ask for forgiveness and remember you are not perfect, but your trying to be better,

as far as the after life....

I consider religion to be my insurance policy for the after life,

You don't purchase a policy knowing that your going to have an accident, you purchase one just in case you do :)

No! But not only the weak. We all at some time or other need a stick/Alpine Stock/Crutch/Support whatever. So if someone reaches for help now and again, is that nonsense?
The problem starts when the Preachers insist that their belief is the only and correct way. Now, that is nonsense !!

Yar har har! Aye, the weaklings need to believe in their myths for many reasons, but the biggest reason is this one.....they fear death, that dark abyss into which we all will eventually go. For some people, the realization of their mortality is too much to handle without a magical happy-land waiting on the other side. Governments and corrupt leaders turned that need into control by writing rules about how to get to the happy-place by good behavior, and warning about a terrible fate if proper conformity is not achieved. You are not alone, we atheists all realize this.

No you are not but I do not believe that anyone who chooses religion is necessarily weak your point of view is demeaning to other people. It is important though that you always feel that your opinion is the right one otherwise why have an opinion

Nope. You're not the only one. I think religions were made up to guide the weak and help them continue living pathetic meaningless lives afraid of everything they do or say because of a consequence that will never be held.

The bible was written for simple, less civilised people to read and understand..why after 2000 years it should still be relevant who knows..but a lot of people do seem to use religion as a crux.
They indeed would be even weaker without it.
Only a strong person follows his own heart and makes his own moral choices.

thankyou! i said this once before, i couldn't live my life for a 'being' a 'book', i am real i live in the real world, i have seen people on here state that 'god' comes before their families, how frustrating is that, i can see my children and family, there are in front of me, breathing and alive, that is all i need and no more, who cares about the after life you will be dead. life is for the living not preaching about what was and isn't.
