You know, as a single female, the survivor of a Short Disaster of a marriage (to an abusive, violent, sociopathic ex), a Long Term Single Parent, and now .. an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ...

I've often wondered that myself!

Well .. now for the serious answer ...

A FATHER is the role model for what the children need to see in their adult lives ...

The SON -- he needs his FATHER involved in raising the children and being helpful/supportive in the household .. stable, secure, a good provider, and caring of his wife/children.

The DAUGHTER -- she needs her FATHER to be a caring, concerned, loving FATHER who is going to be the role model for what SHE Will look for in the future as a potential mate .. one who will NOT Abuse her at all, who will be able to talk and communicate with her, and provide positive, responsible, and caring environment and show her how a GOOD MAN Treats his wife -- as someone to cherish, respect .. and yes, treat with dignity and honor.

A good father models what his daughter should look for in a mate, and what a son should be as a man.

For my dad--his role is to provide a role model for us and to keep us secure.

For my husband--his role is????? my son and I could be without him and still live exactly the same way--maybe in a smaller house but happier.
