Say there's a boy named Jose, who lives in the African jungle alone in the middle of nowhere. He has never heard of Jesus and lives too far away from civil society to know that there is a civil society. He's in his early twenties, and he doesn't speak english.
Will he go to Heaven or hell?

Why is he alone? If he's never heard of Jesus, but is trying to live the best life he can, then, as God is just and fair, he goes to Heaven. He can't be punished for what he didn't know, unless, of course, he performs a deliberately evil act, one he knows to be evil. That could well change things, but only God has the final decision.

Probably the same thing will happen with him as with many natives in the past and today:

Some companies like Monsanto will send their woodcutters to clear-cut the primeval forest and plant genetically modified soya as animal food for ranches in the USA.

This will destroy the foundation of Jose's life, he will become a drug addict, and some christian zelots, also known as missionarys, will tell him that all his misery is his own fault because he masturbated and did not worship Jesus, Maria and some other mythical creatures.

So, as there is no "second life" after death he will be in hell in this lifetime.

1. I don't think "Jose" is a very prevalent African name.

2. He will go to neither Heaven nor Hell since he is not dead. Since he is in his early twenties, he should have plenty of time left to learn about Jesus.

3. If you know this boy, perhaps you should tell him about Jesus. If you don't know Jesus yourself, then you don't have the excuse that "Jose" has, since you were the one who brought this question up.

I know this answer is extremely blunt, but I don't want to skirt this most serious issue that you bring up. You must understand that God is just, and you have to seek the truth yourself and not rely on "Yahoo Answers" to find it.

it cant be determined by us. The Bible actually addresses this issue. God will knows if someone will accept Him. He said that in the event that one has never heard the gospel, He can discern if that person even WOULD HAVE accepted His teachings & be saved!

Isnt that awesome?!

according to religious teachings, he would go to purgatory. Neither heaven or hell, the same as a baby before he/she is baptized.
