The claim that Darwin recanted is a well known lie. Originally told by a person called Lady Hope who claimed Darwin told her that on his death bed when in actuallity she never was near Darwin. Darwin's family stated they were with him the entire time and she never was there. Lady Hope also had a reputation as a liar about other issues as well and was considered to be unstable.
However most people do not know that Galileo did recant. Of course the reason Galileo recanted his belief that the earth revolved around the sun was that the church would have killed him otherwise.

There is no verifiable evidence to support the story of Darwin's "recanting." I suspect it's a bit of propaganda indulged in by the religious.
Note well that any unture story that is told by the religious in an effort to persuade people to their point of view is not regarded as a "lie."

"Are there some famous Atheists who reconverted to their belief, before breathing their last"
you got a nasty streak there.
I've always found deathbed conversions always really distasteful, christians budging in on someone's last moments, playing on his fear of death, and so winning souls. Revolting is the word.

Rumor. Even Christian propaganda sites say so: http://www.answersingenesis.org/creation/v18/i1/darwin_recant.asp
There have been a few change, but I don't know of one who did it when they were dieing.
Added: Galileo did only when they threaten to torture him. It hardly counts. And he wasn't an atheist anyhow. He only recanted that the Sun was the center of the Solar System.

Darwin didn't recant. I advise if you want to obtain factual answers to questions, you shouldn't ask in a section about imaginary things.

Christians are changing stories, AGAIN, to further their causes. This happens in every religion, but Christians just can't stop.

It's just a rumor, and even if it is true, it has no bearing whatsoever on the theory itself.
