I would try and track down who it belonged to. As I would hope the same would happen to me one day.

I would return it. I am a Christian...and if God wanted it to be mine, the bank or whatever would let me keep it...if they couldn't find the owner. The money might be really important to the person who lost it...and God is in control of all things.

I might add that God has often given me money unexpectedly....from amazing sources....I don't need to find it on the street....God can handle what I need anytime....and could tell you some amazing ways He has done so.

I'd try to find out where the money came from - maybe contact the U.S. treasury with the tracking number. Nothing good would come of keeping it.

I would pray about it and if God wanted me to have it he would allow it...if the owner could be found...returning is would be more of a blessing to the person who lost it and to myself in the long run. You can't take money with you. But you can store up treasures for yourself in heaven...by doing whats right on earth.

It would not be a "terrible burden" for me to lose 1,000 dollars or even a 100,000 dollars. The "terrible burden" would be on my conscience if i kept it.

Yes, I would seek the person the money belonged to. Perhaps the person who lost it has greater need than I have.

Of course I'd return it. It's not mine. I don't care if it's $10 or $1,000 - if there's a way to get it back to its rightful owner (like via a tracking number), then it's my responsibility to get it back to them.

I would close the envelope and keep walking. Look normal; do NOT look around. I would go straight home if possible. If no one knocks on my door or calls me about the money in 24 hours, I would deposit and spend it in small increments.

I would try to return it.
Honesty is the best policy. No matter how corny the saying is, it's true.
