Nonsense. It is a religion. By any or all definitions of the term, Christianity is a religion.

Pastor Billy says: when I hear the term "True Christianity" I think of two things, either a historian commenting on Christendom from a 2000 year perpective and not simply the last 20 years or....... a bigotted response from someone who wishes to infer their view of Christianity is what is true and everyone else holding to an alternate biblical interpretation or community is entirely false. Christianity to be true is both a religion (one of the 3 greatest) and also a way of life as salvation is life long, a process, a carrying of your cross.
Contrary to cheap journalism religion = relationship with God not a denomination. Look up the defintion, religion is senergy between the Creator and the created.

Once there is a Diety involved. Once there is a code of conduct or value system. Once there are rules. Once there is doctrine IT IS A RELIGION.

Some Christians in order to avoid the bad press "Religion" in general gets, they try to sugar coat Christianity as being "just a way of life' or "just a relationship with Jesus' what they leave out is that both those things have to be qualified even FURTHER by doctrine etc.

I am a Christian and I have NO problem saying it is a religion. A religion can also influence how you live your life, so in a way it too becomes a way of life.

Hope that was open and honest enough for you.

I believe so, and I think the same about any religion. Religion exists in order to teach people how to live with good morals and values. Different cultures believe in different standards, but the idea is the same...control the masses. It's not such a bad idea, I guess. I like to think religous practices actually do keep people from committing murder, adultery, or other harmful actions.
Christianity is technically a religion because it does have a fixed set of beliefs that are practiced by a number of people.

Religion 1. a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.

as already posted, christianity meets the definition of a religion- so clearly it is a religion that can be distinguished from other contradictory beliefs or religions.

Religions are associated with traditions and rituals. When christians say that "True Christianity is not a religion... it's a way of life" they are trying to say that their faith is based on the lordship of christ in every aspect of their daily lives, not just the holidays they observe and the rituals they go through on sunday. they are trying to distinguish their beliefs from those who say they are christians because they have a nominal belief in God and they have thier children baptised, go to church on christmas and easter and don't happen to practice any other religion. Most people who fall into this category do not attempt to model their lives after the teachings of Christ or seek the will of God for daily living.

I think the most acurate thing to say would be "true christianity IS a religion AND a way of life." To say otherwise confuses and insults the intelligence of the non-believer that you are speaking to- as evidenced by the many postings on this topic.

Correct-true Christianity is not "a" religion, it is "the" religion. All the rest are false, with a minor exception-Judaism. Judaism is not false, but God revised it into Christianity. Apparently everyone is not aware of this yet.
Honestly, I can not see how the intelligent or at least semi-educated people on this planet can not figure religion out. There is sufficient information available to show the truth-yet the masses ignore it. One day...there will not be so much time to waste.

Jesus said what to do and how to do it. To those who choice to be his disciples some things applied. To those who hear the word and follow as well as those who are disciples other things applied.

Jesus said to keep from being fornicators all should marry. Once you marry you can't cast your spouse aside except for adultery. You must put God above your mother, father, son and daughter. If struck on the left cheek offer the right cheek as well. When asked to do something or when asked for help, do twice of what is asked or expected of you. When asked for your coat, give your cloak as well.

To those who take on the challenge to spread the Gospel or word and ways Jesus said sell all you own and buy a sword, but he also said those who live by the sword die by the sword. Go out with nothing in your pockets, no money, just the clothes on your back and shoes on your feet and that sword.

Ask for what you need. If a door is closed in your face knock the dirt off your feet and keep moving.

Jesus told people to go home and pray.

Jesus went to the mountains to pray.

At a Sabbath dinner Jesus asked the head Pharasee if the Pharasee's cow fell into the well on the Sabbath would the Pharasee let the cow drown or work and pull the cow out. The Pharasee could not answer him.

At that same dinner JEsus asked if it was wrong to heal on the Sabbath. The Pharasee could not answer him, so Jesus got up and healed a man who came to the door.

When the people were stoning a woman for being sinful Jesus said stone her only if you, yourself, are free from sin.

Jesus said don't try and tell your neighbor the right way or what is truth when you, yourself can't see truth or the right way.

True Christianity involves being called, chosen, and faithful.

The Father calls (John 6:44).

The Son chooses ((John 15:16).

It is then up to us to be faithful.

Once chosen, you should never again be of the world (John 15:19).

Commercial Christianity, for the most part, teaches a religion of "no works" and obedience to God if you feel like it. Most teach that the ten commandments of God have been abolished. Why? Because they hate the 4th commandment.

Neither is Christianity a religion nor is it a way of life. The way
of life bit fits Islam and not Christianity.

As a religion the concepts and beliefs of Christianity was
never preached by jesus [pnuh ] and is not present in the Bible.
In fact Christianity should be called PAUL'ISM as its has
based it teachings on the teachings of st.Paul the self Proclaimed disciple of jesus [pbuh} who had never Met
jesus[pbuh] in his life time.

As a way of life it has failed Miserably ! what has it taught its
followers ,The easy way out ! It has now become an evil
religion as it has no control over its followers because it does
not have the answer to a single problem that is facing mankind today. The teachings of Jesus are pushed under the
carpet to make way in order to compromise with its followers
It turns a blind eye to the evils of society and is only happy to
preach the atonement of sins nailed to the cross.Take away
the cross and you have no religion !

Religion has to do with rules but has no compassion - no heart. (Think of the Pharisees who condemned Jesus.) You have to do this, you have to do that - NONE of that can save. Salvation is based on faith in Christ alone, and Christianity involves a RELATIONSHIP with God, therefore it is a way of life. We don't just make a trip to the altar and stop there. When you have a relationship with someone, you have to NURTURE that relationship on a daily basis. It basically means we spend time with God every day in prayer, by reading His word, in praise / music, etc. and we do our best to live as Jesus did by choosing to walk in love whether we FEEL like it or not. Love is not a feeling...it is a choice. (1 Corinthians 13) Being a Christian does not mean God bails you out of every problem - it means He goes THROUGH them with you. It means there will still be hard times, because the closer we draw to God, the harder Satan works to get us back or to at least interfere with our relationship with God.
