Eat less and move more.

If you normally eat a lot of junk food, replace it with healthy things. Find an activity you enjoy that requires you to move around more than you currently do.

Time tested, it's the most simple and best way to get thinner and stay thinner.

In order of importance:

1. Start moving your body. Walk, dance, run up and down the stairs.

2. Remove sugar from your life.

3. Keep the percentage of fat calories to below 30%

4. Eat slightly less calories than your body needs. If your body needs 1500 calories, eat 1200. If it needs 2000, eat 1600.

5. Every third week increase your daily calories by 300 for 7 days. Then go back to the original lower calorie diet for 2 more weeks.

I gained about 10 lbs over the winter and I've lost all of it by practicing portion control! If you have a problem with overeating than that would be the easiest way. I can outeat most guys I know and that was my downfall. I never exercise but now that I just put smaller portions on my plate and don't eat until I'm stuffed I've returned to 125 lbs. Also, I cut out most sodas and coffee. Now I just drink water and sweet tea.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Eat healthy. Don't think you need to eat less, actually eating more smaller portion meals a day is better for you. Also excersize. The best way to burn fat is a cardio workout.. walking, running, dancing.. anything to get your heart rate up!

Exercise is key! Overweight or not, you should always stay active. To lose weight, maintain a healthy diet. Cut out sugar-laden sweets, junk food, etc. Fruits, veggies & lean meats (& fish) all the way!
