So many wrong answers so little time - Now that the collection is paid, you can dispute it, and you stand a VERY good chance of getting it deleted from your report. Once they have their money it is doubtful that they will go to the time and expense that it takes to research and verify the debt.
Take heart - dispute the trade line with the credit bureaus that it is reporting to and wait for the responses to come in. My guess is that it will come off - they have 30 days to respond. If they don't respond in that time the law says it HAS to come off your report. If they still don't you can report the CRA to the FTC.
Good luck to you!

You don't get them 'taken off'. The fact that you were involved in a debt collection effort will remain on your credit report, as it should. All you can do is inform the credit reporting agency that the debt has been taken care of, and that information will also appear in your file. After approximately seven years, such information is considered obsolete, and will disappear on its own.

you can dispute it on www.freecreditreports.com but when you dispute it make sure you tell that you PAID IT BEFORE it went into collections. 90% of the time the bank or the collection agency doesnt even take the time to respond to the credit reporting agency so they just drop it all together. Hope this helps you.

Sorry, but you can't. Collections (paid or outstanding) will remain on your credit report for 7 years. However, paid collections will be looked on more favorably by a lending institution, than open collections.

You can't. Once you pay if off, you lose the leverage to negotiate a "pay for deletion" agreement.

You now must wait 7 years from the date of last activity before the account falls off of your credit report.
