You cannot buy full strength injectable Lidocaine over the counter. It is a powerful anesthetic and also used for cardiac purposes.
You CAN buy Benzocaine over the counter. It's a spray on topical anesthetic. It's not near as strong as Lidocaine and it's safe for over the counter use. Some products do contain small levels of Lidocaine but it is not hospital strength.
Using Lidocaine on your own can cause serious health consequences and even threaten your life.

Just got a cut on foot. and it's not deep enough for stitches. But, the wife and I were pondering in a survival situation, not everyday life, what would you do? New skin would close some shallow wounds, Orajel could be used topically if available. And of course, just bite on something and grit it out if sutures were needed. We often wonder, if things in the world turned ugly, Nuclear war, or some natural disaster, and no help was available, or overwhelmed and supplies low, We may have to do for ourselves. That's not crazy, that's common sense. So, I think that is why many people ask such questions. It's not normal everyday go to the doctor and get it fixed situations. It's for when we have no other option but do for ourselves. "The what if" type. And it can happen. Knowing how, is comforting in itself. And as things do get worse in the world, I think these questions will be asked far more frequently.

RE:
Over the Counter Lidocaine?
I am curious where you can buy over the counter Licocaine? I checked Walmart Pharmacy and Rite Aid, but neither have it. Anyone know where you can get it?

In Australia you can get it in some strepsils and in a gel for mouth ulcers etc. You cannot get other forms such as injections over the counter; probably for the best as lidocaine is extremely bad for the heart if not used carefully.

If you're talking about the ointment you can probably find it at other pharmacies or at www.drugstore.com. If you're talking about the medication that's only by a prescription from a medical doctor. Normally Lidocaine is used in injections. Talk to your medical doctor about this.

Bactin has lidocaine in it.
Walgreens does sell some creams with lidocaine in it, but it is not the main ingredient.
