I get these pains in my left arm and it kind of goes numb and then this pain in my chest like someone is stabbing me with needles and get short of breath a little. It goes away within 3-5 mins usually. It's been happening ever since I went to hospital for tachycardia, which was 2-3 weeks ago, but the doctors said there was nothing wrong. It happens wherever, such as at home, at a friends place, out at the mall, like anywhere. Is this like anxiety or stress thats doing this, even though I don't feel axnxious or stressed...?

Just too add...the doctors didn't say there was nothing wrong. They said they didn't know what caused this.

Well I am a medical professional and it amazes me how many unqualified people on here give out advice. Some of the responses are quite humorous and scary at the same time. Now that I have vented, let me give my two cents!

Could it be stress? sure... Stress plays a role in every condition known to man. However, we need to know more information about you. For example, your age, your sex, your health history, any cardiac problems, any recent surgeries, any medications, herbs, or supplements that you are taking...
People... there is NO straight forward answer here without knowing all the facts. The numbness you describe on one side of your body may be an early sign of a TIA which is a mini stroke. The shortness of breath with chest pain may be a small heart attack. Remember, women tend to present with more subtle symptoms than men. Men tend to get the full on throbbing pain in the chest... While women may get a slight pressure that radiates into their jaw... It's not always just gas ladies... You need to have yourself examined. You also said this chest pain has only been happening recently. Before that you had been treated for an elevated heart rate where the doctors were unsure of the exact cause. This tells me that you have some kind of cardiac history and you need further evaluation. Please go back to your doctor and describe the numbness and shortness of breath.
Good Luck

I have had this a few times as well. You will find that the pain is actually radiating from your neck! Acupuncture has helped relieve it immediately. Usually after one session. Another thing to do is to sit down, take several really slow, deep breaths, put your focus on your neck muscles loosening and relaxing - keep breathing deeply- the pain will ease. If you can get to a Reiki Healer, it will help as well. You are probably holding a lot of tension. You will be amazed how deep breathing can help with so many issues around pain. I wish you a Pain-Free day/week/month/year etc!

You need to sit and breathe deeply, not hurredly, just relaxed long breaths.
So you have been for the test on your heart beating 10 to the dozen. You don't say why, when it seems there was nothing wrong. I am a bit muddled.
Were you under pressure and now its gone you are feeling the results of that>

If the tests for cardiac problems are negative, the same symptoms could be produced by a musculo-skeletal problem, for example if your rib-cage has shifted.

this can be stress related. It also can be coming from a muscle or nerve problem. I recommend you see a chiropractor for a full evaluation. I think you will find some answers to what is going on. I've enclosed a link where you can find a chiropractor in your area.

It does sound like a panic attack. In a man it would sound like a heart attack but the symptoms of a heart attack in a woman are, apparently very different.
