OK, perhaps a rather humorous charachter, but the question is this:

A man (or woman) living in isolation who has never been exposed to the possibility of religion in any shape or form will have no concept of the afterlife, good or evil. Since we are all born with sin, does this mean Tarzan would be going to hell? Or would god let it slide on the basis that he's led a life with no influenece other than his own instincts which, by proxy, means he whould have lived exactly as god intended without any outside influence from the church?

This isn't meant as a dig, or a challenge, just to be thought provoking for a wednesday afternoon!

Extra question, how do you go searching for something you don't have any comprehension of?

And OK nitpickers, he's not tarzan, he's a hermit.

Abdijah, your answer is appreciated, but all you've done is copy and paste a load of text. And it is clear form the passage that you arrowed that it refers to people in civilisation.

Have you noticed that the Christian answers don't seem to allow for Tarzan (or the 'hermit's lol) innocence?

Someone has said that there is no excuse for not finding God. I think the fact that God had to tell us all about himself in the Bible shows that God KNEW that people could not find him themselves. If they could, then there would be no need for the Bible.

Another religious cantradiction

Okay, I understand the question. That is spoken of in the Bible. Those who have never had the opportunity to learn about God will have that opportunity.

Note this from Isaiah 26:9, 10 - "With my soul I have desired you in the night; yes, with my spirit within me I keep looking for you; because, when there are judgments from you for the earth, righteousness is what the inhabitants of the productive land will certainly learn. Though the wicked one should be shown favor, he simply will not learn righteousness. In the land of straightforwardness he will act unjustly and will not see the eminence of Jehovah."

Verse 19 makes it clear it is speaking of resurrected ones. If you note, where it says "righteousness is what the inhabitants of the productive land will certainly learn. Though the wicked one should be shown favor, he simply will not learn righteousness." it shows that these will be taught the truth and they will decide based on that whether to obey or not. Those who do obey will be determined to be the righteous ones; the wicked ones will not obey.

Now check this out: Isaiah 65:17-25 -
"17 “For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart. 18 But exult, YOU people, and be joyful forever in what I am creating. For here I am creating Jerusalem a cause for joyfulness and her people a cause for exultation. 19 And I will be joyful in Jerusalem and exult in my people; and no more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or the sound of a plaintive cry.”

20 “►►No more will there come to be a suckling a few days old from that place, neither an old man that does not fulfill his days; for one will die as a mere boy, although a hundred years of age; and as for the sinner, although a hundred years of age he will have evil called down upon him.◄◄ 21 And they will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. 22 They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. 23 They will not toil for nothing, nor will they bring to birth for disturbance; because they are the offspring made up of the blessed ones of Jehovah, and their descendants with them. 24 And it will actually occur that before they call out I myself shall answer; while they are yet speaking, I myself shall hear.

25 “The wolf and the lamb themselves will feed as one, and the lion will eat straw just like the bull; and as for the serpent, his food will be dust. They will do no harm nor cause any ruin in all my holy mountain,” Jehovah has said."

The part above within the arrows shows that they will be given ample opportunity to learn.
==========================================
ADDITIONAL:

The text is from Scriptures that show that those who never learned in the past will have a chance to learn AFTER the resurrection. The "civilization" you see is the conditions into which they will be resurrected, not the conditions they lived and died in.

The fact that they are to be taught these things shows that they had not been taught them previously.

So, your hypothetical Tarzan lives and dies in the jungle, never hearing the good news of God's kingdom, thus not having a chance to exercise faith.

He is raised back to life among people who can teach him these things. Whether or not he gains everlasting life is based upon his reaction to what he is taught.

Babies are innocent, they are not born with sin. And it does sound like a dig to me. "he would have lived exactly as God intended without any outside influence from the church".
If I had not been influenced by the church, I would have been imprisoned or at least a miserable failure in life. I had a mean temper and tendency for violence and I know that I would have gotten into trouble were it not for religious teachings.

There is no god. And how do you know that those who have lived in an isolated area have no concept of an afterlife?. A lot of you in this venue expect a LOT from the god you have faith exists.
And we are not born with original sin. What a fairy tale. That belief seems just plain ludicrous to me,

Like every other person that has been given the gift of life he would have no excuse for not searching for God, we all have the wonder of nature and the night sky to ponder and see the hand of a Creator, also there is the unique self that also demands the hand of the Creator.
God Himself would not excuse the fact that some choose to ignore the signs all around them nor the fact that they subtitute another cause.

Only God can answer, but hey, let's not believe that religion has all the answers. A religion is merely a tool for finding the treasure.

You are making a gross assumption by saying that he would have no concept of an afterlife. Why shouldn't he figure it out for himself?

He would treat Him the same as the next person judged the person, and not what he has or has not done
