I do not discount the possibility that there may be other life forms out there. Still, it does not shake my belief because I am 100% sure God made the universe and He knows what is best for his creation.
May the Lord's peace be with you!

I think that one can be a Christian and still either believe or question whether there's life on the other planets. First of all, God can do anything, so it's possible. Secondly, why are the other planets there, and the whole galaxy, if there wasn't some future intention for them? I agree with you; it would be a waste of space IF it did not some purpose of life, either present or future.
Perhaps, ( kinda SciFi) in the future, when we are in another system, and those who have made it thru the Resurrection, have unlimited powers, ( no time or space restrictions, as we now have) we'll be able to visit exciting places in the whole creation of God, the Galaxy!
I cannot define my answer definitivelly, but it challenges my imagination, thinking about the powers of the supreme being that created all of it!

Some do, some don't.
Yes, I am aware of the vast size of the universe and the likelihood that, somewhere out there, there are other intelligent life forms, perhaps some far more advanced than we are. Sure hope so.
I used to think that if mankind united in an effort to explore space that that would unite us and bring an end to war and strife here on earth. What can I say - I was just an innocent teenager.
I agree that differing religions has and does generate LOTS of strife. Hey look at this place: Yahoo Answers!

I can't speak for all Christians, but I believe in the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe. Why, if God created life on this earth, could he not put life somewhere else? Especially considering, as you mention, the vast scale of the universe?
I don't know how likely it is that we will ever contact these other beings, but I think its great to have curiosity about it. I also don't think its really necessary to divert funds from more pressing matters in order to search for life, at least not at this point.

I won't deny the fact of my curiosities whether or not there are some kind of living objects in outter space. But, I have not been directly influenced by anything. Theorys shows the alien, or other being always comes and lands on corn fields and leaves their evidence behind that they were here with their space ship. But, never directly had an impact on me!
But when I think in reality terms of all the times I hurt and cried because of one thing or another. It was God there that had helped me.
And this kept coming to my mind...."I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth."
So to answer your question, I found the answer that I believe that I agree with the most. I found it on the second link I added for you. "He said his aim with the booklet was to reassure Catholics "that you shouldn't be afraid of these questions" and that "no matter what we learn, it doesn't invalidate what we already know" and believe. In other words, scientific study and discovery and religion enrich one another, not cancel out each other."

I suppose some do and some don't. As with other issues, if the Bible itself is silent on a subject, there is room for much guessing and wonder - and disagreement.
I disagree however about it being the ultimate quest. I believe the ultimate quest for a Christian is Christ-likeness.
Religions don't fight wars - people do.

I think it's exciting and scary as well.
Of course, most Christians do believe there is life elsewhere in the universe, for most believe Heaven is not here :)

if a Christian really believes the Bible then yes... It says God created the WORLDS(plural)...
So according to the Bible there are worlds.
I agree that it is a great quest that should be attempted.
There is other scripture (The Doctrine and Covenants) which is also the word of God and it says that some of the worlds are inhabited.

We just need Einstein #2 to help us find a way for "humans" to survive beyond Earth years to find another planet "paradise" to ensure the human species survives... immortality!
