It would have been a lot more difficult without the US involvement, but not impossible. If Hitler hadn't overstretched his troops and resources by attacking the USSR, however, its very possible that the allies might not have won. There is little doubt that Germany lost world war 2 on the eastern front against the Red Army. If the tide hadn't turned at Stalingrad, the D-Day landings might never have taken place.
Its also worth remembering that when the war began Hitler and Stalin partitioned Poland between them, so if Hitler hadn't double crossed Stalin, the allies might have been facing the combined forces of Germany and the USSR.
So yes - without the combined allied effort of the UK, US and USSR, the Nazis might have won. Who knows what kind of nightmare society we would be living in now if that had been the case.

No, the Brits did alot before America and the USSR got involved; dont get me wrong, Im not against the British at all.
But even before the USSR was involved, Germany had to keep half its troops on the East side, so thats 1/2 of Germany's troops Britain didnt have to deal w/. The USSR didnt even have a GOOD Militay, they just had a BIG one. There exactly what Britain needed, someone to keep Germany tied up while Britain and America could give Germany the major blows.
Britain and the USSR could have held off the Axis for awhile but could not win the War w/o the US. The USSR would have starved if not for America, and w/ the USSR gone the British would get the full wrath of the whole Axis. And if the US wouldnt have taken out the Pacific, they owuld have eventually helped Germany/Italy against the British and Soviets.
All three played a key role, and w/o one of them it would have been a MUCH longer War w/ MANY more casulaties and a total stalemate w/ the Axis.

That's a good question and I suspect Britain could not have won the war without the help of the Americans.
America brought something rather more important than men to the fight! something which the Germans could never hope to beat or the British to equal. and that was industrial might!
Thankfully Hitler made the mistake of not finishing the British off at the time of the Dunkirk If they had invaded then the war would have been over for Britain because its army lay in ruins in France and there simply where not enough trained men or war materials to equip force strong enough to defeat an invading German army!.
At the time of the beginning of the 2ND world war America was isolationist in principal not wanting to get involved. Winston Churchill appealed for American help (President Truman was sympathetic) and so something called the lend lease treaty was instigated. That allowed American weapons - munitions oil and food to be sent to Britain in large quantities by Atlantic convoys ,. This kept Britain going, in those early dark years of the war when nothing seemed to be going right.
After the Dunkirk debacle Britain rested and regrouped, rearmed with the aid of lend lease began to fight back! in a limited way. New weapons that where the equal too and better than their German equivalents soon appeared and the Germans where kept at bay in France in an almost stalemate position. while in Africa the Germans and Italians where defeated by the British 8th Army.
Germany at that time was a real industrial power house it economy was on a war footing and its industrial might was able for a time to supply its self with fuel and war materials food etc.
The war brought hardships and shortages for the British and the Germans alike, Britain got help from the Americans while Germany looked east towards Russia with its huge mineral wealth and for its supplies of manpower which it used large quantities of slave labour in its factories to produce its material needs.
In the end there are a number of what if type questions that can never be answered by anything other than conjecture.
Germany could have won but lost because of bad leadership!
Briatin could have lost but won because of great leadership and our very good friend uncle sam!.
The rest is history

After the British expeditionary force was evacuated from Dunkirk beaches, all that stood before Hitler and his invasion of Britain was the RAF. We had a demoralised Army that wasn't equipped to repel a german invasion, a poulation that was on starvation rations, thousands of people left homeless from the German air raids. It would have taken at least another 2 years before we would have been able to fend off any invasion. For the D Day landings, this would never have been possible without the American troops over here. Britain could have never launched an invsion alone. We didn't have the ships, the fire power or the manpower to take on the Normandy landings.alone..

Hitler expected Britain to capitulate, although this was never an option and while Churchill would have remained steadfast
without economic aid a prolonged or sustained war whether in the form of an offencive or defencive action would not have been practical. Britain would have had to use diplomacy (especially if Hitler's Campaign on the Eastern Front had been successful) to remain free from the fate which had befallen Nazi occupied Europe. Without outside intervention
we would have had Hitler's undivided attention.

Realistically speaking the US entering the war didn't make it a sure victory. To me, what caused the Germans to lose was attacking the Soviets and creating a war on 2 fronts. If the Axis powers were able to focus all attention and supplies on the western front and the blockade of Britain then its probable that they could have won the war. Also if Hitler wouldn't have been involved with the military planning then it might have changed the out come of the war altogether.

The UK was holding their own for awhile. But, in the long run, if the US and USSR had not joined the war, they would have been crushed. Germany would have had just to many resources at their comand. Nothing against the UK(they have a damn fine military), just facts.

Perhaps not ultimately but without the British there would have been no war to fight, before the Americans belatedely decided to join us the UK was the only country resisting Germany, we appreciate American involvement however it would have been better if you had joined us earlier, I doubt America would have won the war without any other Ally but that's not a criticism that's what allies are for. I don't believe that Britain alone could have won the war.
I think that the Russians would have eventually won. After the failure of Operation Barbarossa, the Germans were in retreat before the Americans officially joined the war.
I also believe that it was more a fear of a Communist Europe that lead to American involvement.

You must be an American if you've said that, we did fight long before the Americans or Russians got involved, so give us some credit, but I'm sure we could have won the European and African theatres, the Pacific theatre I'm not so sure about, the Americans did a lot of fighting there, but we mainly took on the Germans, Austrians and Italians long before anyone else did. AND considering we an Empire for 250 years (and also have over 2000 years of warfare under our belts) then I think we could have won, but the war would have taken longer to fight
