im 20 years old, when i was 15 i had a fall and twisted my back ever since i have had back pains it wasnt to bad but now i have it all the time. i looked at my back in the mirror and notice the middle to the bottom of my back bends inwards which i think is why i get so much pain. I cant sleep, move or anything without it hurting.I have been to the doctor but he hasnt really looked at my back and all he does is give me different pain killers but none of them work anymore. the top of my back is slightly bent as my shoulders are bent forward and not in the top where they are ment to be ( If that makes sence) i just wondered if there was an operation or something i can have to straighten my back. Im just worried the pain will get worse as i get older, or if i get pregnant or something my back wont handle it. Any suggestions or anything?

I recommend you see a chiropractor as soon as possible. They are going to help with the problem with out drugs. I've seen many difficult problems resolved through chiropractic. I've enclosed to link were you can find a chiropractor in your area.

Hello,
First of all, do you ever get pains going into one or more legs? If so, STAY AWAY FROM CHIROPRACTIC. Radiating pain may be due to disc involvement and manipulation may severely worsten your symptoms.

By Doctor I am assuming you are talking about your general practioner. if this is the case, demand a referral to an orthopedic specialist or a manual certified physical therapist. I say this because back pain is very much out of the realm of general practice and is very much a specialized area of practice. An orthopedic specialist will know the correct diagnostic procedure to preform for your complaints. A manual certified PT is a specialized practioner who have researched based training in spinal techniques and are not "crack and come back" types, ie, chiropractors.

A very general answer for you is as follows, If you only have pain in the back and it usually occurs with movements or very prolonged static positioning then I would be highly suspective of muscular instability. This basically means that the normal ligaments and joints of the spine have been stretched to the point that they no longer limit spinal motion. This could be secondary to the fall. With these structures no longer providing support the only other tissue that can help is muscle. Muscle is not designed to handle the prolonged strain of keeping the back in proper position and tends to fail and weaken. Without specific exercises to maintain those muscles and instruction in activity modification your symptoms will worsen.

Without actually evaluating you I cannot prescribe exercises because what may help one person may hurt another. Hope this helps.

STAY CLEAR OF THE CHIRO!!!! I'm 30 years old, and have had a bad back since I was about 15. I can't express to you how much I regret not having my back fixed wayyyy back then. It got worse and worse, and now, I'm having back surgery in a few weeks. I had a discagram 6 days and that was the most painful thing I've ever been through. The Chiro isn't the answer. Go to you Dr. Tell him you want to see a specialist...he or she should refer you to someone else. Take care of it now. I now have Restless Leg Syndrom, which totally sux. I can't sleep, or do simple things like laundry or yard work. Had I fixed it long ago, this back pain will would something of my past. Take care of it now!!

Hello there,
I would suggest that you maybe wear a back support it keeps your posture straight and aids a bad back.
Also I am a Holistic therapist if you were my client i would suggest Neuromuscular massage to relax the spine, deep remedial massage with infra red, or even aromatherapy, if you have good therapist in your area I would try there, we are not qualified doctors but have extensive knowledge of anatomy& physiology so you could atleast find out what is wrong with you and then learn the best ways to deal with it.
Get well soon
