Why do people still believe what they want to believe even if there are facts available to prove them wrong?

Research can be biased depending on who is producing it. For example, we’re all been told for many years that the ozone layer has a hole in it because of the CO2 we release into the atmosphere. Now there is new research to prove that it is not solely based on that and that our CO2 emissions did not cause it. There is more to life than believing ALL research. Sometimes you need to believe and act upon what you feel. For example, noone can tell you when you are in love or hate someone. They just see the physical evidence of it. Look beyound the physical.

Hebrews 11:1 "Faith is the evidence of things not seen".

Whatever you believe is a filter or lens through which everything you look at is focused. A person who believes in God can see evidence of him everywhere. A person who rejects God rejects any evidence of his existence.

No one will ever be able to prove that God exist because people do not usually judge things by their head. They judge them by their heart. Their faith colors the evidence.

That is why God does not ask for people's "head" to get them saved. He ask for their heart. You get the heart, and the head comes along for free.

I often wonder this. I think they feel like if you prove one thing wrong in thier faith, then all of it must be wrong. Which I don't think or believe. I mean if Jesus said don't pay attention to the OT, then doesn't that mean that evolution could be true? Adam and Eve are in the OT, aren't they? Just because evolution is true, doesn't mean your faith isn't. Just adapt.

Its called "ego".

They can't cope with the truth, so any excuse to ignore it or deny it will suit the demands of their ego to believe whatever they need to believe to feel good about themselves.

Its a form of wishful thinking where the wish becomes 'reality'.

The others simply clutch at whatever they can find or devise to "prove" their ideas of evolution.

Because if it were actually a life saver they would have to admit their wrong and implimntthe right answer but as most things are opinion led they realy dont have to consider the rightanswer to keep on surviving

It's comforting and consoling to know that there is a magical sky daddy looking after you, some Christians feel that without god, their lives are worthless, they need their faith to help them get through life, but since when didn't NEEDING something to be true MAKE it true?
