Hello,
Yes you need to deflea them and deworm them. Cats can have worms from birth and keeping them indoors will not keep away those worms. But you need not deworm so often as with outdoor cats.
Fleas can travell in your clothes and get to your cats. So you need to keep an eye open. You could fleacomb them every week. That way you will see when they have fleas and treat them accordingly and you can check for little wound, bumps etc. It helped many a catowner to see problems before the went too big. Like growths etc.
Good luck

You should give them one good deworming and defleaing. After that, if you really do successfully keep them inside, they shouldn't need it again. My cats are strictly indoors and they never have fleas. I know because they sleep on my bed, and my comforter is white! A cat that has fleas leaves behind black "dust".. NASTY!! I used to get so mad at my roomate because her cat was indoor/outdoor and she didn't want to pay for the flea medicine that actually WORKS, for HER cat, let alone my cats. So I was stuck paying $30 every month to keep my cats deflead when they would have had no problem if it wasn't for my roomate's cat. Yes, as soon as her cat was no longer in my house, I never had a flea problem. Go figure, right? My cats have no flea collars, and I never give them flea medicine anymore, because they don't need it.

My reccomendation for a good defleaing is the little tiny squirt tubes that you squirt a bit of liquid on the back of their neck (where they can't lick it). The ones the VET sells. I've heard the cheap wal-mart ones that seem similar don't really do the trick. That is the best flea control I have used. Flea collars don't do diddly, and the tubes even work better than bathing/dippng. The tubes aren't cheap, but It would be a one-time thing.

Hi hun,

Yes you will still need to deflea and worm them. Kittens can actually be born with worms if the mother is infected, as it is passed through the milk to the kittens.

Fleas are rare on indoor cats, but it has happened!

Also, if you've only just got your cats, you'll definitely need to get them deflead and wormed.

While you're there speak to your vet and he'll tell you how often you need to treat your kitties.

I keep my cat indoors too, well done on that one :-)

Hi hun. i have 5 cats. All indoors only.

Each time i got a new animal i took them all to the vet to get checked..fleas, worms, ect.

If they have all been indoors, no new animals coming in and out and you've already had it done i say you are just fine.

Taking inside pets the vet every few months is very overrated. I'm not saying i neglect my animals BUT i had a cat [very old] who passed away .. he was only taken to the vet when he was born, check up when he was 6 months old [got fixed] .. then when we got a new animal we would take him.

Other then that he was the healthiest cat i've ever seen.

=) good luck

I have two cats that stay indoors and had them wormed and deflead before I took them home and they have been fine exept once one of them got outside by accident and caught some fleas, but we treated them both for a month and they went away really easy with no trouble. But you must get them their yearly jabs as although they may be indoors, you can still infect them with the germs you bring in from outside. Good luck with your little furry friends mine are now 5 and 12 years old.

Maybe not as often as you need to do it with outdoors cats, but yes. My indoor cat got worms somehow, and now I de-worm him every 6 months. And fleas can fly into your house, so flea medication every 1-2 months is advisable.

Yes you do. Cats have worms from birth and need to be kept on top of. You could bring a flea in the house on a peice of clothing and it'll get to your cat so it's a good idea to de flea it.

I have my cat checked for worms when she goes for her vet check but I dont treat her for fleas.

. My cat did get fleas once when my nephew came over with a flea on him and in turn it infested our house. Both our dog and cat got them. Once my nephews Uncle fumigated his house...I have never seen another flea on my cat. *we no longer have a dog*

You can carry fleas on your person but since Im very sensitive to them I would know right off if we have fleas in the house.
