I havent myself but my lil girl has and yes it is very unpleasant and looks bloody awful if it starts to spread.......
It is very contagious so be careful if there is other people in your house with towels, face clothes etc.
You probably have fucidin ointment off the GP - and it will take a while to clear up!
Good luck I know it's horrid!!

IMPETIGO RELIEF
Keep it clean. '' Wash the affected area with antibacterial soap three times a day,'' says Luisa Castiglia, M.D., a pediatrician in private practice in Mineola, New York. Open it up. ''If you keep the area covered up with a bandage or dressing, you may be encouraging more bacteria to grow. It's a better idea to leave the affected area exposed to the air. If your child is going out to play, you can cover it up temporarily,'' says Dr. Castiglia.
Encourage good hygiene. ''Impetigo is often spread by scratching, so teach kids to wash their hands with soap and to keep their nails clean and short,'' says Fran E. Adler, M.D., a pediatrician in private practice in Upper Montclair, New Jersey.
Keep it cool. ''Studies show that heat tends to increase itching, so keep your child comfortable with tepid baths,'' says Dr. Bronfin. The bath should be just about body temperature, not warmer. ''In the summertime, it also helps to run the air conditioner,'' he adds.
Use a bit of antihistamine. If your child is very itchy, Benadryl Elixir,
a liquid antihistamine product for children, can be a big help, says Dr. Bronfin. Be sure to read package directions to make certain the product is recommended for your child's age. For the correct dosage, follow package directions or consult your physician. Some doctors don't advise Benadryl cream

My nephew has it at the moment too. When I was a kid you could get cream for it but the doctor diagnosed him and sent him on his way, so I guess they don't give cream out anymore. It got bad a few days ago but is clearing up nicely now. He has been banned from school til it's totally gone. Just a few hygiene issues will help. Try not to touch it, wash hands regularly, don't share towels etc.

It is a common skin rash that can come from bacteria found in dirt. Kids usually get it from road rash after a bike wreck etc... It does itch terribly. You need to go to the doctor to get meds for it including some kind of anti itch cream or pills (most likely steroide). In the mean time go and get some oatmeal bath powder for poison ivy. It really helps.

Hey, when I was younger I had impataego all round my lips and it was really itchy and sore. Last week I came out in a cold sore on the corner of my nose and went to my doctors. They advised it was impatego and they give me a perscription for Polyfax ointment. It has healed a good bit now. One thing you should never do is pick it or even touch it as it is a virus which can spread really badly. all the best :)

Yes I had it when I was little. The only treatment was Gentian Violet then, which looked horried with the face covered with mauve blotches. My mother used Hydrogen Peroxide everynight and morning with stung like hell. But it got rid of it quicker than the Gentian Violet which took ages and ages.
Don't use wate to wash your face - it makes the Impetigo spread even more as it is very contagious in water.
Good Luck

I've not had this but know its contagious, did you not get any cream from your doctor? Keep the area clean with soap and water and try to let air dry. Keep your towels for your own use.
