In the UK it's legal to put a child of any age in the front of a car as long as they are properly restrained. if the car has a front air bag you must not put a rear facing car seat in it unless it is disabled.
My daughter sat in the front of my car with me from when she was born (I don't have an airbag) and it meant i could keep a close eye on her and not worry about not being able to see her!

I don't believe there is a legal age. States vary about how old a child has to be before he can quit sitting in a car seat and few car seats are safe for the front. It is recommended that children under 12 sit in the back due to increase risk of injury or death by the air bag. Newer cars are allowing drivers to turn of the passenger side air bag.

In England I put my sons (age 3 and 5) on the front seat in their car seats and I'm pretty sure it's legal as I've never been pulled over for it!

In the UK a child of any age may sit in the front.
If the child is 12 or over or taller than 135cm they must wear an adult belt.
if the child's under 12 and under 135cm they must be in an approved restraint.
It is illegal though to carry a child in a rear facing seat in the front if there is an active frontal airbag present.

I am sorry to say this bu the perosn "Dick" is wrong. there is not legal age.
But there is a hight.
You may only sit in the front if the seatbelst sits confertably on your coler bone.
Becasue if it dosent and you where is you might as well not have becasue it would break your neck.
thta is why u must put children in a bumper seat till they are tall enough
