My cat uses her litter box so much that i'm worried she has a UTI. Is it the same for humans? The urgency thing? She doesn't meow in pain when she urinates and she always uses her box, but she goes in there every 10 minutes and I am just so confused by it. Am I just being paranoid?

Good advice so far! For sure take her to the vet.

If it does turn out to be diabetes, just know that there are a lot of support groups out there on the web where you can go to learn more about the disease and about treatments for it.

I've gotten the impression that you may be able to control it with diet alone (or almost), so don't feel you'll definitely be stuck giving your cat injections for the rest of her life.

No, you are not paranoid. It is possible she has an infection. It is quite common in cats. You need to take a urine samle (put a sterile cup under her tail when she pees) and give it to the vet or a lab for analysis and a sensitivity test of the bacteria found. Then the vet can prescribe antibiotics for her. Also, make sure she drinks a lot of water. preferably feed her canned food, with some water added in it. Also check that she does urinate, because infection can cause the formation of crystals that block the urethra and that can be life threatening very soon (usually male cats have this problem, but it can happen to females too, if treated early it is OK though). Also, if the vet agrees, you could feed her special food (sachets) for urinary problems, it lowers the PH, but the analysis must come first to see if her PH is indeed high(more than 6,5), otherwise you don't want to lower it too much.
If you can't afford a vet or an analysis, which however is strongly recommended, give her Baytril 15mg pills (careful, not bigger pills, just the 15 mg), one every day, for 15 days.I guess they have them at your pet store.
DON'T CUT HER WATER INTAKE BY ANY MEANS, AS SUGGESTED ABOVE. I also doubt she'd like cranberry juice or it would do aanything.

Uh oh, I would take your kitty to your vet ASAP. I have a female cat too, and she uses her litter box a little too much as well. She does drink a lot of water, so maybe she really does have to go. Every ten minutes? NO, you are not being paranoid! You're being a responsible person. I'd ask your vet, definitely. Good luck, and hope your cat gets better.

hi Meagan My cat had a UTI that required some days in huge care. The vet informed me to feed him meals low in ash. That became very costly till i found out i ought to feed him extra value-effective meals with tuna and easy rooster in specific situations. My cat became into neutered so he did not pee everywhere. if your cat's not neutered that must be the 1st difficulty you're able to do.

Hi
I don't want to alarm you but these are the symptoms of diabetes. Feline diabetes is very treatable but you are going to have to learn alot. One big problem is that you can go to 30 different vets and get 30 different treatments for your cat for this disease. If I am correct, please contact me so I can help you get through this.
Don't wait too long to go to the vets as untreated diabetes can lead to other problems like ketones
