I feel for you. DVLA Rules normally require 1 year off driving after a "one-off" seizure, with a medical review before reissue of a licence. I'd be inclined to give 'em a ring to check.

Good luck.

Sorry I wont give you the answer you hope for. When I was 17 I had a seizure, like you had all the test done & nothing was found. However although I went a number of years without one on the odd occassion I do get them. I pessume you had an accident when you had your seizure I'm not judging just asking. If so that would explain you're losing your licence but if you ever had a seizure again & you were indeed behind the wheel would you like to be responsible for the possible deaths of innocent people. I am not saying you will have another seizure but there is always that chance, are you prepared to risk it? I understand the need for independance but what is more important. Just think about it, then proceed as you see fit.

i'm no longer an authority, yet I actual have a sprint experience and have completed a sprint diagnosis. I went to a neurologist for something that advance into clinically determined as probably migraine or sleep paralysis appropriate and ended up having something else I on no account seen clinically determined as hassle-free partial seizures. Took me via ask your self. via fact i advance into already taking seizure meds for bipolar, the advice advance into to improve the dose actual away. The checklist additionally ordered an MRI w/in the week and an EEG presently after. I had a 2nd neuro be sure all this. A grand mal is plenty extra severe. commencing med in the present day is extra significant than looking results of this actual seizure, which they could discover besides. You son's concepts ought to have some seizure pastime or signs and indications happening, or possibly no longer something will coach. this is available, and isn't any longer unusual from what i've got study, for no longer something to coach in tests after the 1st 24 hours, so the docs probably have that in the time of concepts besides. working different different scientific tests is due diligence. this is available something else is suspected, whether this is extra probably sound scientific technique such as a psychiatrist who's making a psychiatric diagnosis first working blood panels to ensure the concern isn't thyroid or yet another extra straightforward scientific project. the push i could think of has extra to do with the type of seizure and its length. IF (if!) that's something else, it would be dealt with rapidly. returned, that's proper doctoring. additionally, categories of seizure meds can paintings extra constructive with seizures originating from different loci. in the event that they could nail that down, it could desire to impression the type of med your son is positioned on.

It will depend on the type of seizure and the doctors prognosis, but you will have to be clkear of seizures for a specified amount of time before they will consider giving you your license back. It used to be 2 years clear for epilepsy. Best thing to do is to contact DVLA and see how your case is progressing.

Have a look at the DVLA website. It has a section on medical disabilities. I hope you are fully recovered and don't get any repeats, but please do remember there are other people on the roads if you want to drive again. As well as your Licence issues you also must disclose all this to your insurers

Most likely you need a note from your doctor, allowing you to drive, then the DMV will review the request. If you have already sent everything - PICK UP THE PHONE and call them, or go in to check on the status. Sitting around being non-pro-active will get you nowhere!

They normally tell you you have to wait 6 months depending on if it was just a one off. But as I discovered you will probably wait around 10 months as they are constantly back dated. Best thing to do is to keep getting onto them to see where they are up to.
