To believe and accept Jesus Christ as Savior is more then just mouthing the words. It is a change within us. To repent is to turn away from those things that keeps us seperated from God. Turning away from those things and turning to what God has for us.

Well Jesus Christ recognizes God as his Father, so he obeys God's commandments (not necessarily the 10 commandments from the Old Testament but more the idea to love everyone and follow God's Word aka His teachings). So we must believe and accept Jesus Christ as our savior, yes. But we must also show the same acceptance and adoration to God.

Technically yes... But becoming a TRUE Christian should spark the desire and to follow God and His commandments. By accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of your life you are saying you will submit and follow Him since He is your Lord.

the law was made for people who was disobedient and unruly. No one can obey all the 10 commandments.Jesus said if you live by the law you die by the law.Who has not lied.Jesus said if you say that you have not sinned than you are a lier and that means you just sinned and if you break one of the 10 commandments than you have broken all of them so that means all of us have killed. Now don;t that put things into a different light? What Jesus was trying to say is the only way to heaven is through believing and following Him.

Dear Veritas,
i think the disciples in the Bible clearly demonstrated what it means to believe and follow Jesus.
The Bible teaches us that we are saved by Grace. It's a free gift from God that we can not earn by works. So no one can earn their way into heaven by doing good works- or by following all of God's commandments (that would be living by the law).
However, it does not mean that we simply just say i believe in Jesus and live our lives as if we didn't believe adn as if God had no say over how we conduct our lives.
We will not follow all of God's commandments perfectly, but the question is - what is your heart towards that? What do you do when you realize that you've disobeyed God. If you just say- well i'm saved i'm heaven-bound, but i'm going to live like "hell" i think that may be indicative that a person truly hasn't put their faith in God.
Hope that helps. Feel free to email if you need any clarification.
Kindly,
Nickster

The problem here is if that is true then satan is a follower of God because it says in James 2:19-20 satan "believes" and trembles, its not just believing its BE-LIVING, "IF" you love me [then] keep my commandments John 14:15, also the second member of The Godhead Jesus Christ [see Heb.13:8. John 8:58, John 1 for Jesus being God] said of following Him, in Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

To accept Jesus as your savior and follow him, you accept his commandments because you love him and you strive to follow them. people say they are christians but dont do anything such as strive to have a deeper relationship with God, ect. So when you accept Jesus as your savior, you accept the commandments and his word.

nothing apart from faith is a requirement for salvation. we are saved by grace through faith and not of works lest we should boast. but if you truly realize your sinful state and believe that God chose you before the foundation of the world. and that Jesus came and died to pardon us from our sins then you will want to do works for God even though they are not required.

I don't think it's possible to do both. If you truly accept Jesus as your Redeemer, then you wouldn't want to go against His teachings. You'd still mess up, nobody's perfect, but you'd do your best not to.
