I've seen at least 20 answers the last hour stating "atheists are happy a Christian died".

So, anybody....is that the reason?

I'm an atheist and I seriously didn't even know who he was until everyone was talking about him today and I went and looked him up online. I really don't care either way that he died. I didn't know him or his family personally, so his death doesn't affect me. I'm not happy he died, because I didn't know him, and nothing he did affected me personally. He's just another person that died.

Are the athiests posting that athiests are happy a Christian died, or someone else making an assumption on that? Weird. Well, I am not an Athiest or a Christian. I can't generally bring myself to rejoice over the death of anyone, really, as a rule. If I were relieved he died, it wouldn't be for the reason that he was a "Christian", if anything it would be for the "legacy" he left behind him, but I don't happen to consider it a Christ-ian legacy. I have no love lost on his politics, or his religious views for that matter, but hey, he sure stood up for what he believed in, and got out there and acted out on his beliefs, how many of us can say that? But Death is the great leveler, isn't he? He was also someone's husband, father, and grandfather, and I hope that his family finds some comfort today.

Nonsense. Atheism has nothing to do with reponses (or lack of) to Falwell's death. The reality is that they're all standing in line to "replace" him. Someone said he didn't impact their lives, but this isn't true. Falwell had MUCH to do with controlling the "moral majority," (does someone's name ring a bell)? First, he was NOT Christian. He was bigoted, condemning, close minded, arrogant, & a total fool. He caused a great deal of harm. Am I glad? NO. There will be more just like him. He was just a a wart, & there will always be warts. His death LEAVES NO VACANCY.

Bigots are no more Christian than an old boot is Christian, that goes for all bigots whichever creed they profess to belong to... bigots are just plain old bigots and this one is now a dead bigot.

If there is an afterlife (LOL) then perhaps the boys who died in action and who's funerals Falwell picketed ... hopefully they'll be waiting to give him an appropriate reception.

There is some ancient African proverb something about "If you wait long enough at the river bank, you will see all your enemies float down it. This means we all got to die in the end. Falwell will be missed by some . . . not me but some, I mean that guy could party like the pope. He was lucky to last as long as he did. Now . . . looking for health changes in GWB and Castro.

Not for me. I am happy that he died because he was an idiot. There is quite enough idiocy in the world without cretins like Falwell adding to it.

Yes. I'm glad he's dead . Evil "Christians" die too, and with his death people can learn the truth.

In the U.S. this evil "Christian" spread his hate and bigotry right into the White House. He controlled the Moral Majority. He convinced 50% of Americans that hate, discrimination and bigotry are fine as long as you are a Christian.

He raped, tortured and destroyed the lives of so many people with his "Christian" rhetoric.

He shall rot in Hell as do most Evil Christians.

Falwell a christian? Perhaps in name only. I saw him as a self righteous, self serving racist who used and abused other people for his own narrow minded purposes. You want to call that a christian?

Yes. They are right. Our dirty little secret is out. We secretly hate Christians and hope they all die because we are just that evil.
Plus, if Christians are happy Jesus died, why shouldn't I be happy another one died? Now if you'll excuse me, I have some more straw men to build.

I think in many ways he harmed society, but at the same time I do not place the blame solely on him.. He is a product of the environment, and genes such as we are. It saddens me that another human has died and no longer exists.
