They give Satan far more credit for doing so much evil than God gets credit for doing good. One would think that Satan was God or a god for all the power he is accredited with. Wouldn't people be better off if they accepted the blame for their own mistakes and stopped fear-mongering Satan?

Ariel - You know that, and I know that, but I wondered why they do it and what they feel they gain by spreading fear of Satan over and above loving God. It's bizarre.

Excellent question! Indeed, many Christians do this. Many also seem to think of Satan as God's evil equal (and I think pop. culture has a lot to do with that). It's true that Satan is the father of lies and that he and his fellow fallen angels tempt people to sin, but it's ultimately our choice whether or not to believe in the lies and to sin.

I think an enlightened level of Christianity does not question blame. I believe operating in 100% faith, one does not question God's works. Any event that occurs, is for a reason, that reason being God's will. And if one does not operate in 100% faith in God, perhaps they are not Christian- or faithful for that matter. I believe there is a spiritual revelation Christians (or those who practice any faith) are more inclined to discern based on a divine power- GOD! And this revelation displays the balance between good and evil. I believe this discernment is obtained through prayer, meditation, reflection, etc...

As you can see, those who are true 'Christians' do not give Satan any power and all glory remains with God. Yet they are not foolish, so they acknowledge which forces operate
around them and have the ability to DISCERN good from bad.

Yes, it would be best if people accepted responisbility for their choices, all of them, but it's easier to blame an entity created by other men and attributed to God, than to stand up and be responsible.

But...

IMHO, it is because they don't want to attribute anything "bad" to an allegedly benevolent God. Apparently even though God is "all powerful" God doesn't have a choice in when and where God uses God's powers, say to intervene when a plane is about to hit a building or when a "madman" unleashes a flurry of lead at 'innocent' students. Apparently God is not more powerful than one of God's own creations (Lucifer) and is helpless when it comes to what the devil does.

So God IS "all powerful" but doesn't have a choice in matters. Or IS God "all powerful" and through God's will/choice intervenes in some matters and doesn't in others.

I get thumbed down for this constantly, but either God is all powerful or God isn't, if God is, then God has a choice in what happens and could change/prevent anything, anytime; if God is not all powerful and has no choice, then everything that happens is just chance, regardless of what anyone chooses to believe about God. What does "all powerful" actually mean?

Ya just can't have it both ways. :)

I don't know of any christian who gives anyone more credit than God deserves! But, satan does indeed have power. Just read many of the ques and ans on this forum who do not believe in God or who blame God. Now, that's satan's power over all who are blinded by his hate for God/Jesus. His deceptions are so cunning that unbelievers fall into his lying traps and don't even know they are caught up in his snares. Satan is behind all their misguided thoughts, mistakes etc. Why are you denying his power that God said existed and warned us about in His Word? We believe what God's Word tells us. We are all responsible for our choices and who we follow - God/Jesus or satan. God bless

No, devil isn't omnipresent. Any Christian coaching which claims that he could nicely be is a deception itself. he's an angel, and could flow like an angel, and DOES flow to and fro in all the earth, yet you would be able to desire to remember- he wasn't on the LORD's factor in any respect cases, who're we to be so conceited to think of he'd be at ours?

I understand what you are saying, but Sin did come from satan. There is just no way around it, he brought it forth in the first place

Maybe you should do a little reading and find out how much havoc Satan is causing in this world as we sit. I hear that Devils manifest themselves as Jinns, and that ferry's have Horns.

Instead of making a vast generalization for which you are about to get pounced on for, why don't you simplify and try again with a specific example, OK?
