Pope Benedict XVI Come on, he has been holding confrences in both the Vatican and the Middle East in an effort to repair the relationship between Islam and Christianity. To these confrences he invited Sunnis, Sheites, Protestants, Catholics, and representatives of the Eastern Orthodox Faith. He is currently, and fairly effectivly trying to end the rift between the Catholic Church and Eastern Orthodox Faiths. And he's a good Augustinian Theologian. Nothing seems more senseable to me than trying to have peaceful dialogue between faiths. EEWWW.....How did I know suggesting a Catholic, a Pope no less would earn me thumbs down?

By 'In our time' you might mean in your lifetime and mine (and I don't know how old you are) , or in the time humans have recorded history. But it seems to me that's really beside the point, since sensible for one can be insane for another. The question is subjective and depends entirely on the values and mindset of the answerer. One person might tell you that Dr Creflo Dollar is a genius and visionary. Another (me for example), might call him an opportunist cashing in on a gullible society. I'll tell you one thing: nobody is going to suggest to you that it's George W Bush.

Seems most are flawed characters.

Billy Graham was effective, but aligned himself with political figures, and the two never mix well.

Although technically not a preacher, her good deeds spoke louder than words.....Mother Teresa of Calcutta.

I don't know about most sensible, that's a lofty claim to make... All I can tell you is who's made the most sense to me. You can podcast his messages if you like.

Peace to you.

billy graham.... he started in the early 1900s and was still preaching into the 2000s, with no real issues like so many famous ministers have had... his message, from different facets, was to see people saved, which is the main mission of the church, spreading the gospel...
