Why do women need to talk so much?

Pay attention to your job and stop eavesdropping on others.
Conversation is also known as 'sharing information'.
If you can't get into that, get a job in an isolation cubicle!

They can't help it. It's the way their female brain is wired.
The speechcentre is connected directly to the thoughcentre.
There is no filter. Not a single thought of whether or not their babbling might be heard by others, if it might be annoying, or if it might be not so interesting - none of that. every single thought just blabs out their mouths the instant it happens in their brain.
It has nothing to do with spreading intelligence. It's just the lack of any filtering between thought and speech centres.
I bet women can even keep talking without thinking - i.e. they can keep talking while they shut their brain off completely. Listen to them for a minute, and you will agree!

Girls are better at "making the work day go by"
It is a very good strategy and beleive me if you have a job where you can socialize but still get work done then they must be having a great time.
Basically, talking makes the day go by

This may be your experience, but I work in a shop and the guys there have their own problems of gossip and overcommunication when it comes to things that are not work related. I wish that they would shut up!

catty women are annoying and stuck in their high school phase, even though high school is long over.
They do this to size each other up and see who is queen bee. Once that is established her minions will continue the catty words onto any and all woman who are above their dramatic crap.
These women need to watch less TV and look into a mirror, because the "life" they are trying to talk up is the same life that everyone else sees as pathetic high school mentality.
if they don't shut up go to a supervisor, that's why they're getting paid more than you.

H e l l if I know . There's always a higher level of drama in the workplace if women are the majority. Just ignore it...I know easier said than done.

try eavesdropping on purpose, they'll either let you in on some juicy stuff or hurry away whenever they see you.
If nothing else works, try music+headphones
