find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Despite all the marketing and hype, there's really no secret to it. You've got to figure out a way to burn more calories than you consume. That usually means eating less and working out more.
I lost 50 pounds last year by doing this:
First, I figured out how many calories I burn a day just living my regular life. There are websites out there where you can enter any activity (like sitting, standing) and if you add up what you typically do in a typical day, you'll find out how many calories you burn naturally.. without exercise.
For me, it was about 3,000. So I decided to eat 2,000 calories a day and that'd be a 1,000 calorie/day deficit.
A pound of fat = 3,500 calories, so according to my plan, I should have lost 2 pounds a week. I actually wound up losing a little more than that because I walked and played tennis too.
I think the hardest part is getting started but then once you see some results, you'll be motivated to continue.

If you're considered to be very obese, then you should start a diet plan, for example, weight watchers or jenny craig. If you're big, but not too big, you should plan out your meals, count the total calorie/fat intake, eat less sugar, write down your meals in a diary just to see where you stand with food. Then, write out a meal plan for the week at a certain amount of calorie/fat intake, and you should work out. Start off with power walking. You just have to eat healthy and work out and you will lose weight. You can always get a personal trainer though. But the best advice is to eat healthy, work out, and control yourself. Some tips could be to eat slower, substitute something like eggs with egg whites, jello with sugar free jello, pudding to sugar free pudding, etc. But do not completely restrict yourself, give yourself 1 day to treat yourself, for instance, on a weekend. Most imporantly, do not binge or eat because you feel like it or because you're bored. Good luck!

Yoga is another excellent method in treating obesity. It insists on adhering to a healthy lifestyle. It offers specific techniques to rid the body of toxins and achieve a fine balance between emotions and intellect. It follows a holistic approach to the treatment. Some of the techniques of pranayama are highly beneficial in treating obesity. Meditation has been shown to lower stress, which is a primary factor in obesity.
