I have a very large build and have always been a bit overweight. I want to slim down as much as I can and be as thin and fit as possible. I don't want to be any bigger than I am now, so what would be the best workout plan and diet for someone like me?

I'm 5'11 and 235lbs, I don't know my body fat %.

I mostly want to lose fat and slim down as much as I can while building lean muscle I think? I don't know much about exercises and diets.

Thank you.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

resistance training with light weights you can do for 15 or more repetitions and then cardio(run, bike, etc) for about 30 minutes, every other day.

watch what you eat. lay off of sugars, junk food, soda/pop, etc. eat proteins(from eggs, meat, fish, milk, powders), fruits and vegies, healthy fats (from fish, nuts, etc).

bottomline: to slim down, burn more than you eat.
