Explain each of these for me please!

1. "Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

2. Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

3. Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

5. Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

6. Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

7. Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

8. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."

Thanks, but I don't want an overall meaning. I need the meanings of individual Beatitudes..

Beatitude is heavenly happiness- the perfect happiness and inner peace supposed to be enjoyed by the soul in heaven.

1.Those who are poor in spirit or those who have not ever heard of living spirit of God are blessed because they could enter the kingdom of heaven.
2. Those who are not happy on earth will be happy in heaven.
3. Those who are humble will be blessed for they will own the earth.
4. You will be blessed when you are thirsty and hungry of righteousness because you will be satisfied in heaven.
5.You will be blessed when you are merciful because you shall obtain mercy in heaven.
6. You will be blessed to have pure heart (faith in God) because they shall see God.
7.Those who are peaceloving people are blessed for they shall be called the son of God.
.8. Those who are persecuted or given harsh punishment will gain the kingdom of heaven

A general explanation is that they are designed to re-prioritize the incorrect teaching of the Pharisees that Jesus' original audience was exposed to. Applied to our modern culture's equally incorrect teaching in many areas, we learn to re-prioritize according to God's priorities.
