so, where is the least painful spot to put a tatoo? on the back of the neck( a little star), the lower/middle back(chinese symbol), or the upper part of my butt(small lips).

Tattoos that are placed on top of bone are extremely painful. The more flesh an area has (i.e. the fattier it is) the less painful the tattoo will be. Therefore, tattoos placed on the back and neck will be rather painful. A tattoo placed on the butt cheek will be significantly less painful. If you mean your tailbone area when you say the upper part of your butt, that will also hurt quite a bit. Consider how close to the bone each spot is and choose whichever is furthest.

Hope this helps!

Why worry about the pain, it will be over soon enough. Go with the tattoo you think fits these three conditions best:
1. It makes you feel the sexiest!
2. You can hide it from the anyone you aren't intimate with.
3. It doesn't represent a lifestyle you don't 20 years from now!

...just curious, what chinese symbol did you have in mind? They are all cool, but just make sure if you select one that you CERTAIN of it's meaning & that it is done by a good artist!

you have to take into account that everyone is different first off. Also the place u get it depends on ur tolerance for pain as well as the size of the tat. i would say go for the butt and lips first and then try the others if u handled that ok b/c the other two are gonna go more over ur spine therfore causing more pain.or u could take the method my friend did and take a toothpick and poke yourself just a little(not hard enough to draw blood or anything)over the spots and see which hurts less. in the end its up to u so GOOD LUCK!!!!

side of your thigh. Think of it like this any place that is fatty is not going to hurt as bad, but it still hurts. but out of those three the butt; but, the neck or lower back look the best. Don't worry about the pain just get it done right and where it looks the best. Trust me life has more painful plains for you then a tattoo.

Any tattoo put in a bony area will hurt more. Less meat to absorb the shock of the needle and more nerve endings closer to bone. Those needles really hurt over bony areas and in already sensitive areas!
The upper part of the rear end is a better choice and it can be hidden from people you don't want to see it - job interviews, grand parents, your kids when you are older!

Your butt would be the least painful. The more fatty tissue there is the less it hurts and the closer the tattoo needle is going to the bone the more it hurts. But really, the pain is very minimal and over really quickly.

I've heard the shoulders and ankles are the least painful places. The back of the neck is fairly painful, or so I've heard. I wish I could speak from personal experience.

Good luck! And all of those tattoos sound really cool. :o)

You shouldn't let pain determine your tattoo location. Get the tattoo where you want and what you think would look best. Also - they're called characters not symbols re: Chinese writing.

The butt. Fatty areas are the least painful. Areas over bone are the most painful.
