It causes a rash that looks like little skin tics. The doctor said it would clear up by itself in about 18 months but I need to look up more info.

The name starts with an "M" and it is caused by animals getting into the sand box. The doctor said it would last about 18 months and then start to disappear. I just forgot the name! Thanks for the help.

Are you referring to the HPV (Human Papillomavirus)?
It is normally thought of as only a common STD but can be spread through open cuts or sores when children are playing in a sandbox. Hope thats the one :)

Well the only virus that may last that long is a viral skin infection. It may last months to several years and unfortunately there is no cure for it. Here is a link to read.

Toxoplasmosis, caused by cats going to the toilet in a sand box and then Humans coming into contact with the infected sand.
