I do believe there was. Ellen White was blessed with the gift of prophecy. Some prophecy of hers can be found in The Great Controversy. Chapters 39 and 40. She wrote in the 19th and early 20th century. She predicted many events prior to their occurrences. Here is link. I think it is pretty fair to her detractors, and yet she still comes out on top.

The "pro" in prophet means "in favour of" rather than "before." Phetes means speaker.

The first prophet in the Bible was Abraham. His wife got nicked off with. Presumably his displeasure at this would have resounded with the feelings of others who were affected by similar doings. Therefore, his prophesying (he was a tent-dweller who had left prosperous Ur) was motivated from his own genuine feelings, rather than being a bit of paid PR. This is the same with the prophets like Isaiah. His own son was part of the prophetic life that he led. Women are supposed to wear a head covering for praying or prophesying (1 Corinthians 11). Men have short hair. Therefore, there would have been many prophets since the Bible. It just means speaking out in favour of things, especially family. I think it would also indicate a fair amount of respect for the prophets who were not afraid to condemn society's misdeeds despite the lack of popularity and threats to their lives that came with it. As Jeremiah said, it was like fire in his bones not to say it.

That's a pretty big assumption you've got going there. Must be the two prophets I've heard who's prophecies have come true weren't prophets because you said there haven't been.

I also guess the two times I've been miraculously healed wasn't real either because my guess is your next question will be where are the healings.

Just because you are faithless doesn't give you the right to project you life experience on others.

Oh by the way the second prophecy about my ministry just came true last weekend even though it was given to me 6 months ago. Funny that.

You fundamentalist atheist crack me up. Your the biggest joke on the internet.

There are Prophets today. The church of Jesus Christ L.D.S. has a prophet. He is the prophet for the whole world. God would not leave his children with out guidance for long, but to have a prophet there needed to be the true church and it was restored by Gods hand in the early 1800's

God didnt leave us without guidance..we have the Bible. All we need to know is in there thats why he said dont add or take away from it. Before someone qutoes deuteronomy to me read the whole chapter not just take the one verse out of context so it has a different meaning to fit what you wish to convey. God Bless

There are true prophets and false prophets out there today, many of them would be considered saints in the traditional word. Some of them would not be.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit helps in discernment. Roman Catholic saints, spiritual teachers as they are, could also be considered prophets of modern and less modern times.

Prophets were just the "versions" of different religions to the ACTUAL title god gave his own. "Gods on earth chosen by God in heaven to lead his peoples." His chosen of "Egypt," and there are "Gods on earth" even in present times, THOUGH we are not out in the "open" anymore. I am of the faithful in Amen through Yezua his Son. A GOD ON EARTH, having been chosen by the Father in heaven 31 years ago by "resurrection" after a bad motorcycle accident. The "word" prophet took over the word "God" of ancient times and simply means a "chosen" one of the Lord of Creation to be a "teacher" amongst mankind. Far too many people look too deep into "words" and as one of the ancient faith of Egypt I am in simple terms like a modern day "priest." Hebrews called their "teachers" prophets, just as those of the faith of Islam. Other religions also call their teachers prophets, but the roots go back to the ancient term of a god on earth.

Maybe because God doesn't want their to be any more prophets (real prophets) Since the Bible. Or if there are prophets people wouldn't recognize them as Biblical prophets.

Because the purpose of the prophets was to foretell the coming of Christ.

Once that was accomplished, prophesy virtually disappeared.

Only a handful of saints since that time have been blessed with the gift of prophesy or predicting future events.

You can see as many prophets as you would like just by visiting a mental hospital.
