We have won the war in both countries. We are stabilizing the peace in both countries, now. Afghanistan is now under the command of NATO, who also commanded the operations in the Balkans, successfully.
Iraq, although still with some problems, can be stabilized but it's going to take at least 6 more years. Keep in mind that a vast majority of the problems you see here are in and around in Baghdad. The other areas in Iraq are stabilizing. Just look at the fact that the Brits are downsizing in the South.

The US lost the war with Iraq two weeks into the conflict because Bush stated that the "liberation" of Iraq would only take two weeks and t5he rescued Iraqis would be jumping for joy as the Americans paraded down the streets.
Unfortunatly JJ - there are no troops to fight. You are going to have to be satisfied with guerilla warfare here. Something the US seems proud of in the theaters.

There is absolutely no chance to win the wars in that area. Read the history. Everybody tried that, starting from great Roman Empire. Nobody did succeed it. Whoever stepped there only found more and more trouble. I am really sorry for the troops there.
Hey guys, if you are reading me, please do yourself a favor. Start reading history. And go home as soon as you can. I don't know what you should do for it but you are fighting for nothing.

Of course we can win but you cant kill the bad guy if the powers that be try to keep you from firing your weapon. The little men in Washington are so afraid of what will happen if there is some blow back from a screwed up mission (such as high collateral damage) If they would just let are men do what they do best (KILL THE BAD GUY) then maybe so many innocent people wouldn't be dead or dieing

I'm troubled by the frequent use of the word, "win," by politcians and even military figures.
One does not "win" a war with terrorists anymore than you can win a war with termites. You may prevail in particular battles, and you may confine or restrict enemy operations and you may make conditions unsuitable for infestations or occupation -but you never win in the sense of unconditional surrender by the "other side," because there is no "otherside." Rather, there are thousands and thousands of committed activists who fight not for a country, but rather for a "cause."Terror and terror-related activity are not military strategy, nor expressions of national policy; rather, they are the manifestations of deeply-rooted beliefs and world-views, so embedded in the psyche that the believers willingly and routinely give up their lives to make others give up theirs.
And so, we face a situation which NEVER reaches a conclusion, never has an end point. Rather, it is ongoing and a part of modern life for many years to come -and perhaps, forever.

I hope so, but then again it's not like we are in "WAR" with Iraq or Afghanistan. They don't even have an army that will fight against the U.S. It's the terrorists group that is attacking our troops. We are in such a mess.. God help us all.

The only way we are going to win this war is with nuclear weapons. Which would be a political death sentence for this administration and other republicans.

The only people who "win" wars are undertakers and big business. No one has ever won any war.
