Does ocean water make sunless tanner come off faster?

After swimming in the ocean the other day, my sunless tan seemed to fade faster than normal. My friend had a mystic tan and the same thing happened to her. What's with this?

Water will make your mystic tan fade if you do not wait at least 8-12 hours after spray tanning.

Yes because the salt and sand in the water makes it more abrasive to the skin.
