the history of christianity begins with the roman catholic church... their first brain washing scheme was to murder their opposers.... not long ago people were murdered for talking against the bible based religions... it is a sin only if it is against the chruch... witch hunts for example... today there is freedom of religion that protects us from this action. freedom of choice it is not the business of a religion to dictate what a woman does with her body.... also you help others who are oppressed but only if they are coerced into your religion in the end... that is called being a predator....
you talk about religion bringing order but the order is always and only brought through violence. every christian sect has begun racist and exclusive... freedom means choices freedom means peace freedom means no stupid laws excluding the choices of others...

people seeking to do no harm require no law.
and religion could never be sustained without violence...

Note: This is a biased answer

Religion is a very effective tool to control an ignorant society. By unkowningly removing a person's right and brainwash him with false mumbo jumbo, a religious group can easily control him. This is in contradiction with freedom since full independence would remove this type of power from religion.

Catholic Christians have a long history of helping oppressed peoples and fighting for freedom. For example many Catholics were very active in the Civil Rights Movement in the United States. Many were also involved in the begining of the labor unions early in the 20th century.

The tone of your question suggests that you wish to offend and argue rather than discuss. Hate is not limited to any one religion or to religion at all. Hate comes from people with closed minds. Unfortunately there are some of those wherever you look, religious or not.

There is a very different kind of freedom that comes with understanding His Word. I understand that you believe The Word is oppressive, but in actuality, it is a personal freedom. I, personally, do not know any Christian that does not/would not fight for freedom for all. Perhaps you do but they would not be following The Word.
We don't live by "the law" since Jesus freed us from the law. (the rituals, the rigid rules, and such as referred to in the old testiment - which is history -plenty of good reference material to support the new testiment)
Those things Jesus tells us is good or bad is for our own good, but we are free to learn it the hard way - which is what I usually do; will I ever learn??
If I had followed what the Bible says is the right way to live and to handle things, I would have avoided a whole lot of pain and regret.
We are all - everyone on earth - free and equal in the eyes of God. As humans, we are as free as our governments allow and equal is subjective. If I have no legs, am I as equal at runing to a person with two legs?
I don't understand your statement that we fight against freedom and equality. We, among all, should be seen as fighters for freedom and equality.
If you refer to our views on specific matters as we are taught by the Bible, then you would be asking us to fight against what we believe to be right or wrong or harmful. Would that not be the same as limiting our freedom?
Freedom doesn't scare me. The loss of legal freedoms scares me.

It really depends on the Christians involved I guess. I know many Christians who would fight for the rights of others. I know Muslims who would do the same. And pagans. And atheists. It's the extremists that make it bad for those of us trying to save the world. Most Muslims are NOT like Osama. Same with many Christians. The vocal minority make everyone look bad, I fear.

The world's been in a state of chaos since humans started carrying weapons. While some work for peace, others ignore the option and prefer genocide.

I'm Catholic, and I've spoken out for peace on many occasions. I stand for peace, both locally and globally. Catholics are often very involved in social justice issues (workers' rights, help for refugees, and much more). If standing up for the rights of minorities, the poor, the disabled and many other groups is what you consider fighting against equality, then I suppose I'm guilty.

Actually, I think your comments apply to most people and not just Christians or Catholics. Most people I know support the concept of freedom but there are usually at least a few points over which they would want to dictate the laws to everybody else because "they know better".

Countries where most people are Christians can have a lot of freedom and few laws. It's becuz the Christians police themselves.

Countries with few Christians (particularly where Christianity is illegal) must have very strict laws and few freedoms.

As the US is becoming less Christian, we are passing more and more laws; as well as stricter laws.

Nothing scares me...the freedom to believe as I chose is a fundimental right in this country...the freedom for you to believe as you do is also a fundimental right. Those who fight against freedoms are control freaks and they are not only the christians...Atheists and others do the same thing...it is a two edged sword you are looking at that can cut both ways...

freedom in the world? precisely there is too much freedom, there is chaos.

too much freedom, people are watching pornography everywhere. too much freedom of thoughts, and expressions, people are insulting everyone, offending everyone. too much freedom, the governments who are not watched continue to pollute the environment. too much freedom for a parent to go look for extra marital affairs. freedom for the children to run away from home, to rebel. too much freedom for the media to show obscenity, violence to influence our children.

this is the world's freedom.

Christ's freedom is different. Discipline first, and freedom will come naturally.

easy example: Singapore is one of the safest country in the world. we can walk around late into the night without being robbed or raped. we can respect each other and have mutual understanding for different cultures. we can be rest assured that our security is tight enough at the borders so that terrorists would not enter in. why are we much safer than other nations? why do we experience such freedom in our own nation? because we have tough laws, tough disciplines and a government that holds things tightly in the past.

freedom without discipline is CHAOS. period.
