they cant even sell out in calif and they never will .why because theres other forms of raceing that run all year that are better to spend your money on .the only reason nassca survives is that most states only have nascar to entertain them .there either frozen or flooded and on the same note look who the top dogs are now cailf boys with offroad racing starts .because they can drive anything

I don't think it's NASCAR dying, it's being reborn. The old days are gone. The cool cars that looked just like the ones you could buy have given way to ultra-safe stamped out copies of the same car with differnt decals. The wonderful array of personalities who were never afraid to do or say what they felt like have given way to, with a couple exceptions (Jr., Stewart), boring corprate drivers who can't say or do what they want for fear of fines, point loss or sponsorship problems. The days when qualifiying meant something have given way to the days when a newly formed team can run times better that half the field and still be sent home. The days when cautions were only caused by things we could see have given way to phantom debris cautions or 10 lap cautions to pick a piece of rubber off the track. This may be good for the new generation NASCAR fan, but this ex-fan would just as soon go to a local track and see some good, real racing.

I think NASCAR will survive, even if you stop watching it, for every person like you who says they've had enough and are not going to watch anymore, 50 new people become fans.
I think IRL and F1 will be gone long before NASCAR goes anywhere.
That CORR offroad racing is a JOKE, they run what 10 or 15 laps. Only two drivers have a legitimate chance to win each race.
What fun is that?
Unless those drivers are the ones you cheer for, pretty predictable and boring if you ask me

My two favorite sports Boxing and NASCAR are dieing? No! They both have changed, yes; for the better, no but they are not dieing just changing. NASCAR has lost it's way by aborting it's roots and in doing so has picked up a new group of fans, some are casual fans, some are devoted fans, some will stay, some will go; that's the way it is. But like your children no matter what they do and mistakes they make they are still your children and you still love them.

The best thing about Boxing on TV is that commercials are only 1 minute long between rounds.

The death of NASCAR is premature.
IS NASCAR on life support, not even close but is it ailing that is true.
The quaility of the racing events has somewhat deminished. These are no longer festivals to motorsport but popularity contest between drivers.
Yest there are fans of the sport out there but after this years Talladega event I see a different fan. These are not fans of the sport but fans of a person.Ask about the race and the answer is "My driver did this or that" but they can not tell you who crashed in turn 2 or why another driver pitted out of sequence.
Go to vendors row at an event and look at the souvineer trailers and where people group. The same 5 or 6 trailers I have my favorite drivers and teams but I go to a race for the event I don't got to curse and fuss when my favorite spins or point fingers saying so-n-so bumped him or spun him.I go to see 43 cars compete for a victory.SO my favorite does not win well see you next week.
So is NASCAR on it's last leg?
No,but trouble could happen if fans don't support the events.

No its not dying. Its just not growing as fast as it was the past 10 years. Cali never sold out because its not a good market for NASCAR to be in. They put a track there hoping to get in to the huge LA market but its not working.

I agree rally racing, corr, and desert racing are cool but they arent as good to watch in person which is what really makes sports profitable.

Well, Robby Gordon may be a good Off-Road racer because there's no walls in the desert but he sure as hell can't drive anything else.
Nascar can't sell out California because they shouldn't be there in the first place. Not to mention it's gotta be the most boring track to watch.
There's nothing there anyway but Paris Hilton and alot of other famous for nothing's.

Really odnt know what you are talking about because some of the tracks dont get sound out because of weather seriously I would stand 120 degree heat in Arizona or something but some people in Southern Cali and other areas wouldnt and I know the ratings ahve been droping but thast about it because their fan base is getting larger and larger each and every year so I doubt that NASCAR is dying because of its growing popularity that wouldnt make any sense now would it?

I believe you could be right. I'm not saying totally 100% you are. I just feel; that your right about rules and also the commercialism. I know some guy said he recorded a Nascar race one night because he was busy doing something else that night at the same time. Out of 3 hours of taping. One hour and a half was nothing but commercials and them talking about Nascar. Its getting too ridiculous....

God Bless You on your opinion of NASCAR the big corporate dollars, the big TV dollars there make the rules up as they go along has ruined there group. You never know what they are going to pull next. Just not worth watching any more. You newbies can have it.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is keeping the sport alive. He might not be the first in point standings but every race track he goes to draws big crowds and loyal fans. Especially with all the drama of him leaving his family team and starting his own... Number 8 is going to be obsolete and fans are going to be buying a truck load of Dale Jr. merchandise bearing his new racing number.
