The religious shyt is a sign of mans idiocy, praying can't fix a car or the environment!

But We CAN,

Not only can we stop global warming we can even reverse it.

All we need to do is grow more vegetation than we burn. I think that we will figure out how to balance the planets climate. This is more important. The Co2 in the atmosphere comes from the combustion of organic fuels, materials that contain carbon.

It will happen anyway we as humans just need to help it along by planting and growing as cultivating. It will take a while to catch up but believe it will. The Earth is a great recycler nothing remains static it is constantly mixing and recycling.

The excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is available for regrowth in the global biomass. The earth receives enough sunlight to cause the growth of 7 times more biomass than we currently burn in fuel.

We can actually recycle all of this Co2 back into vegetation. It will take a global effort but the side effect is that we can grow enough vegetation that we can again burn and use as an unlimited supply of fuel.

We live in a paradise, it is heaven, we just need to sort a few things out and quit acting like scared children...

relax it is not only Global warming that hangs over our heads

the world is gonna be OK ,
climate change(Global warming) is just going to affect all that lives on the surface

but there are so many other possibilities

here is my collection of ends of the humanity

many predictions are for the years between 2012 and 2020
Nostradamus,the mayas ,Egyptians Jesus ,

and Terrance Mckennas time wave who put the magnetic output of the world into a computor projection that stopped at zero in 2012,this means the globe has stopped and it starts turning
the other way ,the resulting change of currents will turn the planet into a giant washing machine cleaning the surface

then there are the meteors storms (armageddon) ,the gulf of Mexico is the result of one that would have made life exstinct for a while ,this would result in an other ice age because globe gets covered in dust for a few years, blocking out the sun.

then there are more posible natural disasters
Volcanos are coming to life everywhere
the weather has giant storms like hurricanes ,tornados ,tidal waves ,earth quackes

a shift of the earth crust ,would change the position of the poles
under Anrarctica were found fosilized tropical plants indication the pole must have been in a different place then (the mainland atlantis is thought to be under it )

Apart from that , the biggest threat to any species of exstinction is ,when there are too little ,and when there are too many ,so overpopulation is also a threat

and the USA appears to be gunning for a global nuclear conflict .it is most likely that this will get us first ,looking at present politics

the planet will probably survive unless humanities bombs result it to be knocked out of its orbit

so many ends to choose from
if it wasnt so serious it would be rediculous

meanwhile enjoy life .and make the most of it at least we are all in the same boat

Lol, I tend to share in the same sentiment. "I say we're all screwed."

I think the damage has already been done. We have ignored the condition of our planet...karma.

BUT, I think it is still important to try and preserve it as much as possible for whatever we have left. Our storms have been worse, our weather has fluctuated a lot more... We are really seeing a lot of global climate changes.

As much as people say this is all 'political,' that is crap. Open your eyes and look at how weather has changed in the past years. The 3 or 4 hottest years in the past 100 were all after the year 2000! People dedicate their lives to studying the planet. I am not about to disagree with them all about their findings.

For the first time ever, scientists have given a consensus that global warming IS happening. The problem is that a lot of people don't believe it. One more people ACCEPT that it is happening, then we can make strides to save the environment.

No, we're not all screwed.

Sure, global warming is a serious problem but there's no doomsday scenario where we're all going to die.

We'll have to adapt but humans have always been good at adapting. The developed nations can mitigate many of the effects but the poorer nations are going to be hardest hit as they lack the finance, resources and technology needed.

There are nine schemes in the pipeline that are looking at ways of combatting global warming, some more practical then others. Some of these schemes are ridiculously expensive, others are remarkably cheap and easy.

There is still a lack of commitment from many governments to examine practical measures to mitigate global warming and a lot of the research is being privately undertaken and privately financed (contrary to what some skeptics may tell you).

One or more of these schemes could be up and running in a few years time. If done correctly they can sequester more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere than humans produce - meaning we can life exactly as we're doing now without causing more damage through CO2 emissions. At the same time, they could reduce levels of CO2 already in the atmosphere and effectively regulate the planet's temperature.

To ILoveNutsy,

The bible my dear says, it will be cleansed by FIRE. How the heck do you not see the correlation between global warming and our planet virtually burning up? We already have fires going at this minute. The rate of renewal of new growth, i.e. Yellowstone Fire, Arizona fires, Florida fires, you name it fires, will not be quick enough plus a multitude of other things going into the air, like Saddam Insane setting his oil wells on fire for a year and letting all that black smoke into the atmosphere. It took A YEAR to put out all those black oil fires. This will ACCELERATE this process. Whether the planet burns all at once or a little at a time it doesn't matter. Just enough to cause a nice BIG FAMINE. Where you gonna get your food then girl? How you gonna go outside when there's no ozone layer? You can't you'll burn up just like it says in the Bible. Since you want to bring it up. This is the impetus (sp?) to burn the earth in BIBLICAL PROPORTIONS. There are parts of scripture of prophets who have seen our day and have said "their faces are as flames". I don't know about you, but that sounds like a nice radiation burn to me. Have you ever seen a picture of radiation burn? It LOOKS LIKE FLAMES. Oh yeah and then there's the humongous solar storm coming in about 4-5 years. It will take 2 minutes for anything coming from the sun to hit this planet and knock out transformers. YOu know what it means to knock out transformers on a monumental scale? It means no electricity FOR ANYTHING. Not gas, not trucking, not clean water, not NOTHING. As the nearness of the solar storm the worst ever by the way approaches, there will be rolling blackouts. I wonder in four to five years how hot it will be then? I live in Arizona. It gets pretty dang hot here in the summer. We get rolling blackouts here and people will be packing up their camping eqipment, provided there's gas and heading for the high elevation places here. We have places of refuge at 9,000 feet. Hope all you flatlanders fare better.

I think the bees seem a more immediate threat. Bees produce up to a third of all the food we consume. I saw a queen bee burrowing into wood. Talk about dedication, she has been digging for 3 weeks and still no worker bees to get the colony moving. Too bad we couldnt say that about our leader. We have the workers but the dedication of our leader is to destroy the earth more and get oil from overseas.

I think that global warming is a big problem right now and if we dont do anthingabout it we may lose alot of things such as fresh water and land space because if the polar ice caps melt it will go into the ocean and then the sea levels will rise as well

There is no global warming.

Of course its true, dont know why bush says its not true (wink wink) if you see the movie called "absolute zero" is wat could happen but not entirely true, b/c it wont get there, we have been tryin but we can only get to -234 and the abs zero is -237 or something like dat (correct me if im wrong) well anyway the earths axis will change causing major earth changes, like birds will start crashing to the ground whales will die of being stuck on shore,,,,,Basically the APOCALYPSE, and right now flowers that are supposed to bloom in june are blooming right now, imagine how hot it will be in august.

Kind of pessimistic. I'm not sure that the Earth is completely doomed... but it's going to take more than a band-aid and a kiss from mommy to make it better. It's going to take a lot of hard work and adjustments in the industrialized nations in order to restore the environment even in part. Hopefully, it isn't too late.
