CT's are faster than MRI's so you shouldnt have a problem especially if its just your head. If you are really worried ask if there is a head holder they can give you. I know they have them just in case. They dont always offer it. Youll be fine I promise

A typical head (brain) CT scanning time is about 5-7 minutes. With multislice detectors, the time of the scan is less than the time it takes for you to check into the department. We schedule brain CTs every 15 minutes, and that includes time for paperwork and filming/archiving.
"Modern CT scanners are so fast that they can scan through large sections of the body in just a few seconds."
"A CT scan of the head is usually completed within 20 minutes."

I would say 20 minutes is a bit lengthy in my experience. Best wishes....

Try to sleep. Meditate..Breathe normally. Imagine you are in an exotic beach listening to the waves of the ocean. Sing menatlly in your head just to your self. How about praying to God that everything will be all right? . It's normal to be nervous and anxious about the unknown. .
But the procedure is painless. You might put on ear plugs if you're afraid of the humming noise that the scanner makes. All have to do is lie on this stretcher while this machine revolves around you. I went thru this.
Try not to feel agorophobic as you feel being confined in a small space.
It's perfectly safe. and you need this procedure for your own peace of mind. You might even take some mild meds such as Tylenol. just to relax.

I tried to meditate and had a fantasy "dream" while in there--pick a topic you like and visualize the whole thing start to finish (the ideal date, re-do your house etc). If you truly don't think you can stay still ask to be sedated (by your MD--don't ask the CT tech). If you need this CT for a diagnosis its better to get it right rather than keep failing.

a CT takes much less time. don't drink anything with caffeine before the test. take a deep breath as you go into the scanner and then, close your eyes. remember to breathe and realize that the test will be over with quickly.

Maybe you should suggest that the doctor give you something to help you relax before having your CT.

ask them if they can play music that relaxes you, and try not to think about the cat scan so much, try to daydream and think about omsething you enjoy or somewehre you would rather be, if you are not to focussed on whats hapening you will move less, aslo tell them about your concern and ask them if they have any ideas, i am sure they deal with patiens and little kids who cant stay still

If you have ever had vestibular vertigo, have someone drive you to and from the CAT scan.
