find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

To be honest with you, you need to eat a lot. Now when I say eat a lot that doesn't mean junk food. Eating healthy helps you lose weight, but also it helps you feel full. Instead of eating 2 or 3 big meals, eat 5 small meals. The thing is that we don't know what a portioned meal looks like!!! First thing is that you need to drink lots of water because that helps clean your system, and helps you feel full quicker as well. Remember that sodas and juices have lots of sugar, sodium, and are fake calories... which are not included in the food pyramid of recommended foods to eat.
So like for breakfast, eat some whole grain cereal or a bread that's whole grain, and some fruit...
for lunch whatever...
an inbetween snack like a protein bar, some fruit..
and then dinner...
But it's a lot of things to lose weight because you have to burn 3500 calories to lose one pound. And in the recommended daily caloric intake is 2000-2500. So guess what? You're definetly are going to have to incorporate exercise. And the exercise is the way that helps lose the weight because if you exercise enough you really don't need to diet, just watch how much you eat and what you eat. And keeping yourself on a half a tank or more on gas will help regulate your hunger instead of going on empty then filling up because you're gonna get those hunger pangs and then you're gonna eat more...
Hope that helps.

I've heard the best way loose weight is to eat only when you're hungry.. and not to eat too much. You can eat as many times a day as you like, but only eat small portions at a time. The way that I know I'm full is when I sigh for the first time after eating. TRY IT!! :D

Although you are dieting you should eat 3 healthy meals a day and 2 light snacks - one between breakfast & lunch and one between lunch and supper... as for snacks I mean an apple or orange or maybe yogurt. The meals should be lean, for example you could eat a non-sugar cereal (Like LIFE) with skim milk, for lunch you could have a microwave meal from weight watchers and for supper... you could have skinless baked chicken with mashed potatoes made with skim milk and a vegetable... and another good trick is to only eat one portion and use a smaller plate... it tricks the mind into thinking you have a huge portion because the plate is full. Also you can have a few goodies along the way but few and far between. It does work... I lost 89 pounds in like 9 months using this method... Good Luck!

As difficult as this is for me to admit, I'd rather be honest and help someone rather than see them go through what I did. In my late teens and early 20's I was treated first for anorexia and later from bullemia.
First, you must ask yourself why you feel you need to lose weight. If it's a healthy reason and a reasonable one then what most doctors will tell you is it's not how many times a day but rather what you're eating and how much by means of portion size.
Three balanced healthy meals a day with normal portion size will decrease the amount of unhealthy calories you take in. This combined with healthy excercise will increase metabolism and stamina and help you to lose weight responsibly and healthily and improve muscle tone.
Some people even find it easier to eat smaller meals but eat more often works for them as well. It's all about listening to your body and finding a healthy balance for what works for you.
Definately speak to your doctor before starting any new change in diet and excercise, espescially if you have any other health conditions. Your doctor might even recommend speaking with a nutritionist to help you find that balance I was talking about too.
Just please approach this the safe and healthy way. Believe me, you don't want to go through what I did recovering from those eating disorders. It's a lesson that stays with you for life.
Best wishes & good luck.

5 or 6 is a good number... However they are not huge meals they are relatively small, like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich (easy on the jelly ;-) ) or another small healthy snacks. This helps you not to be as hungry during the day. Eat a healthy breakfast, a small snack, a small lunch, another small snack, and small dinner!! Also remember to exercise, preferably in the morning since it will get your metabolism going earlier.... dont starve yourself because as soon as you start eating again all those pounds come right back... ALSO drink lots and lots of water, I usually carry one with me and I can fill it up at a water fountain... Hope this helps

It doesn't matter how many times you eat as long as you don't eat after 5 o"clock p.m.. Just drink water at this time. and until bed time.
