Assuming that the theory of evolution is valid, I'm sure apes didn't care until a higher thought process developed and people began questioning their purpose in life, and why certain bad things occurred (famine, disease, etc.). To explain these occurrences, I would assume, naturally, that theism developed, and was very strong since science was not a study. After science began to explain the world, perhaps then atheism came about.

But who knows? There are always "exceptions." Perhaps atheists then were as common as they are now.

Well, it's highly unlikely that the first mammals were theists.

So at some point, theism came into being.

Of course there's no real knowing when, how, or why, as we don't have a time machine.

But people who study early humanish critters have found very early evidence of human burial, where they carefully placed the remains of humans in the ground, surrounding them with things such as art works, food, and tools.

It's been concluded that they did this to help people in the afterlife.

I believe that all known cultures believe in supernatural stuff.

Until now, when more people don't.

Theism. You can't have atheism without theism.

There could not be atheism unless theism first existed. This is simple logic. You can not profess to object to an idea unless the idea exists.

Obviously, Theism came first. Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden and talked with God. Atheism developed due to Satan and his teachings. Babies are born knowing God because He says something to the effect of before you were formed in the womb, I knew you. As we grow older and turn hardened, we forget that we once knew God.

Theism was invented, so Atheism came first. And polytheism was WAY before any type of Christianity or other monotheistic belief system.
