"I think most people walk in Christianity with a Vail of life in America "on them. The Bible states to be submissive to your country and the leaders of your country. I think the interruption justifies many Christians that are involved in or believe in War.
It is basic in the 10 commandments, that going to war is wrong.
I think the government has caused so much fear that people go to war thinking they are actually doing something good, to rid the World of evil terrorists.
Well we are the ones blowing up the holy lands, Southern Iraq is where the garden of Eden was. In revelations it states: there will be wars and rumors of wars. Mankind has been indulging in War from the beginning of time and so it will be at the end of time.
I do not beleive in War or guns. If there were no guns then no one would get shot!

Obviously there were a lot of wars in the Old Testament. So if wars are always wrong, how do you explain the fact that sometimes God ordered Israel to go to war?

It appears that you don't know your Bible that well. In the New Testament, Paul said that the government had the right to use deadly force (the "sword") to enforce justice in the book of Romans, and there is a similar passage found in the letters of Peter.

Aren't we hostile!

Actually, the original commandment translates more accurately as don't commit murder. War is not murder.

Nowhere in the bible does it say war is wrong, although the bible makes it clear that war is not the ideal situation. When King David wanted to build a temple for God, God told him no. His reason was that David had too much blood on his hands.

And despite the politically correct facade we all construct around modern politics, war is usually, at least superficially, religious. God really does have enemies, people who actually want to kill Christians, just because they're Christians.

Is it better to sit back and watch the destruction of the innocent, or actively destroy that which is evil?.

I know this is being talked about much in the Catholic Church. War is never a good thing. It is always in the best interest to avoid war at all costs. I believe in Iraq right now we should some how some way try to negotiate peacefully with the people that are causing the harm and hurting themselves to hurt others.

The Catechism says:
2308 All citizens and all governments are obliged to work for the avoidance of war.
However, "as long as the danger of war persists and there is no international authority with the necessary competence and power, governments cannot be denied the right of lawful self-defense, once all peace efforts have failed."

2307 The fifth commandment forbids the intentional destruction of human life. Because of the evils and injustices that accompany all war, the Church insistently urges everyone to prayer and to action so that the divine Goodness may free us from the ancient bondage of war.

Please show scripture that forbids war. And then read the Bible Ex 20:13
13 The sixth commandment forbids murder. The ethical theology that lies behind this prohibition is that all humans have been created in the image of God (Ge 1:26-27; 9:6). While Hebrew possesses seven words for killing, the word used here (rasah; GK H8357) appears only forty-seven times in the OT. This is the one word that could signify "murder" where premeditation and intentionality are present. Thus this prohibition does not apply to beasts (Ge 9:3), to defending one's home from night-time burglars (Ex 22:2), to accidental killings (Dt 19:5), to the execution of murderers by the state (Ge 9:6), or to involvement with one's nation in certain types of war. It does apply, however, to self-murder (i.e., suicide), to all accessories to murder (2Sa 12:9), and to those who have authority but fail to use it to punish known murderers (1Ki 21:19).

The Bible makes a distinction between murder and justifiable killing such as execution of criminals and killing in war.

I think you are referring to the Ten Commandments. Commandment #6 is "Thou shalt not kill" in the King James version. It is a reference to murder. The Ten Commandments are part of the Law of Moses which allowed executions and killing in war.

Jesus told Peter to put away his sword. Christians are not to try to spread the Faith by violence. But that does not mean that a Christian can't join the military.

Christians interpret the bible to justify anything they want. Interesting also is how “the OT doesn’t apply to us”, but when needed for their purposes they are quick to use it. Christianity is not known as the most hypocritical religion of all time for nothing you know. Furthermore, the illegal invasion of a sovereign state on the other side of the globe is not exactly self-defense. Hypocrites & liars.

It would be hypocrisy NOT to defend our liberties and what we stand for. As Christians, we do our best to live by the Bible. But sometimes choices have to be made. Many people have gladly given their lives to defend what they believe in.

lets step out side the bible for a moment;
the law of this great land is; if you murder someone you will go to jail for life or death penalty.

but if you go to war and kill someone, you get a medal for defending your country...or if you kill someone who is enters your home and trys to rape and murder you it's called self defense.

so why pick on Christan's?
God's laws are no different
