Black and White are not technically colours. They are the absence of colour.

In general usage, however, we allow them to be colours.

They are not part of the primary colour scheme. Only, inasmuch as white light can be separated out into colours, and black reflects all colours.

You could ask what primary colors make red...... You can not. You can only make a neutral gray by mixing (almost) equal parts of red blue and yellow.

Theoretically (very theoretically) you can create any color from the primary colors AND black and white.

Even in print they use three colors (cyan , magenta and yellow) AND black (key). You can not make black using pigments that are not black.

In light it is easier...just turn of the light.

Interesting question. While some people consider the primary colors to be red, green, and blue (RGB), others consider cyan, magenta, and yellow (CMY) to be primary colors. Both the combinations give black.

Any pair of complementary colors blended theoretically form black, e.g. red & green, violet & yellow or blue & orange, but one must use the spectrun colors as closely as possible for best results.

You really cannot make pure black. Mixing all three primary colors together will give you a murky dirty brown. Black is a hue that is added to primary colors to make shades of the color. Pax - C

If you are looking to create a deep color that resembles black for painting, use a deep green and red. It's great for getting a 'black' with depth. good luck.

I always thought it went something like this: black is "primary," but it's not technically a "color" because it's the absence of color. (It absorbs all light, reflecting none).

there are only 3 primary colors from which all other colors are made. black is the presence of ALL colors, as white is the absence of ALL colors.
