no way! the more you let the banana ripen the more flavor it will give to your bread, so while it might not be appetizing for a snack alone it makes banana bread incredible! It also helps to make them easier to mash. Another hint, I sometimes add 1/2 c. sour cream to my recipe to make it even more moist. hope this helps :)

Bananas with black skins, but which aren't so soft and squishy you can't handle them, are just very ripe and have a very high sugar content. They're better for making banana nut bread than yellow bananas. The bread will have much more flavor. No, the bananas aren't rotten.

Hi Actually I like my bananas to get really really black I mean mushy cuz when y a make the bread then..it seems to have the best banana flavor of any. I have tried it with just yellow or a couple days old. But it has so much better banana flavor the older they are. You can also freeze bananas if you only have one and it is not enuff. Just mush it up and put in a freezer bag and next old banana take out the frozen and mix them together.YUMMY!!! Don't forget the nuts!!! :) Good Luck and God Bless!

No, it's probably fine.

Any time you refrigerate a banana, the skin will turn black, no matter how ripe the innter fruit is. When mine start getting a little too spotted to eat, I toss them in the freezer whole. Then when making banana bread, just lay them on thecounter a few minutes, pop the end off, and squeeze out the banana and juice just like a tube of toothpaste.

If the peeling is black that doesn't mean the banana is bad. If the bananas aren't too soft they should be fine and will make a sweeter banana bread because riper bananas contain more sugar.

Those over-ripe bananas make the best bread.

No, they are not rotten, just over ripped. Next time you have riped bananas, put them in the freezer, & when you want to use them, thaw out, you'll have extra flavor in the bananas, I do it all the time!

Black peels? No they aren't rotten. That is when they are ideal for making breads. Pancakes too.
