When I was a Mormon, I was taught that all sins R differant, like lying is differant then death, when I became christian, I was taught that a sin is a sin is a sin. All the same, so all will make you go tot the same place, so they are all the same. All a person needs to do is commit one sin and that person ends up, you knwo where, so they are essentially all the same.

This is one of the many points in which mormonism contradicts the Bible. James 2:10 says "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

Just one sin is enough to separate us from God. Romans 3:23 says "For ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Sin has a price, and that price is death and hell. Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Chirst our Lord."

Sin isn't just what we do wrong that can be seen by others it is what is in our heart. That is why John said in 1 John 3:15 "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and you know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him."

Now, what sins are forgivable and what are unforgivable? Let's look at David. He arranged for the murder of Bathsheba's husband. He saught forgiveness and was later called a man whose heart was perfect with the Lord (I Kings 11:4).

Then we have Moses, he wrongly killed an Egyptian and later God chose him to lead His people out of Egypt and to be their spiritual leader. Would God have chosen an uforgiven murderer to receive the 10 commandments and lead Isreal?

Now look at Paul. As a persecuter of Christians he was most likely responsible for the deaths of many. He was present at, and consented to the stoning of Stephen (Acts 7:58-8:3. Why would God choose him, a man responsible for martying the early saints be called of God to be one of the greatest apostles unless he had been forgiven?

Bottom line, we can trust JESUS when He said, "Verily I say unto you, ALL sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blasphemy: But He that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation." Mark 3:28-29

SO how can we, as sinners have eternal life in heaven? Through God's grace. ROmans 5:8 "But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."

This is a gift of God that is given not earned. Eph. 2:8-9 says "For by grace ye are saved through through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." If we had to work for eternal life, for God's grace then it would no longer be grace or a gift. Romans 11:6 says "If by grace, then it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace..."

If grace came by works then it was not necessary for Christ to suffer for our sin! Galations 5:4 says "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law, ye are fallen from grace."

Christ told us how to be saved (have eternal life in heaven) John 3:16 For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

God's grace, giving His son has wiped away the sin of believers. Those who trust in Christ as their Savior and Redeemer have Eternal Life in Heaven. We are declared innocent (justified) by His blood. Romans 3:24 says we are "justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

Praise be to God!"

Not just sex but ANY sexual relations - pretty much anything beyond a nice kiss goodnight, we should not be doing before marriage. We consider, as does God, sexual sins in seriousness comparable to murder. You are literally giving/taking something that cannot be given back, that there can be no restitution for. You can steal and pay back the money. You cannot give back a life nor virginity... so therefore, the seriousness of it. Immorality runs rampant in this world today. Procreation is a gift given to us by God - and those who use this gift in an unholy way, will come under the judgement of God for it. And I wouldn't want to be in their shoes! Adultery is not "just" having sex with someone other than your spouse. Even if you are not married, you can still commit adultery. It is having any sexual relationship with anyone to whom you are not married. Whether you or they are married to another or not. And people seem to miss that. All sexual acts should be saved for within the bounds of marriage. Between a Man and a Woman. No other way. (Since "gay marriage" is all over the place now... that will never be OK with God. )

Mormons believe that sins are different. Is the brutal torture and murder of innocent children the same as accidentally slipping and speaking profanity? God forbid!

We also believe that a sin is a sin, and that no unclean person can enter the Kingdom of God. One tiny sin will keep you out of Heaven forever.

We also believe that through Jesus Christ, we can be made completely clean:

Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

It is a common misconception among Christians, (and unfortunately some Mormons) that Mormons believe we can "earn" our way into Heaven. Our efforts are never enough. Jesus Christ saves us, after all we can do. But we must do our best, and Jesus Christ will do the rest.

I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the restored true church and gospel of Jesus Christ. While other churches have truth, and we gratefully acknowledge that, we humbly tell the world that salvation comes only through the saving ordinances of the true gospel.

I hope this clears it up for you.

Yes, Mormons believe do believe that.

There are, according to Mormon doctrine, two sins that are totally unforgivable - the shedding of innocent blood (becasue part of repenting is providing restitution where possible, and since you under your own power can never give someone's life back to them once you've taken it...) and denying the Holy Ghost (referred to in the New Testament as speaking blastphemy against the Holy Ghost).

Sexual sins are the most serious sin for which you can be forgiven of, and require priesthood guidance as part of the repentance process.

Other sins are either major minor, depending on the type, but any sin will still keep you out of the pressence of God if you don't repent before you kick the bucket (so in that sense, yes, all sin is the same).

It's like the U.S. justice system in a way. If I steal someone's purse, I still get punished, but the punishment's not as big as if, say, I stab them.

A person that steals a candy from a grocery store is commiting a sin because he/she is stealing. If a person murders people for pleasure and goes around killing innocents and others are raping kids and doing "weird stuffs" to innocents. As you can see, the 3 examples are sins and as you can see, the candy stealing is wrong but it is not SOOOOOOO wrong as killing people or raping children. So, I believe that all sins are different and let's face it, they are going to be punished in a very different way by the law. However, I believe that God is the one that will have the last word.
A sin is a sin, that's true, but remember that there are major sins.

I believe that there are sins that are "weaknesses" that we are unable to overcome without help from Jesus...

I also believe that some sins are different because they are like an open defiance of God's commandments...

But no matter the sin.. it is a sin.. and ONLY through the Grace of Jesus Christ are we saved.

Sort of...

In order to live with God, you need to be spotless. You need to have all of your sins washed away through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. So in that respect, they are the same.

However it's hard to imagine that a white lie is exactly the same as say killing and torturing 10 million people. Mormons don't believe in just heaven and hell, but in a "Tiered heaven" of sorts. (We'll save that discussion for another day).

Going slow in the fast lane is a sin, but you can repent.
Drinking coffee is a sin, but it's nice.
Drinking and driving slow in the fast lane will get your heiny busted.
Having naughty thoughts is (are) a sin, but sort like coffee.
Hoping Mr Peepers get zapped by the hand of god has probably occurred to hardcore TBMs, too.

Some sins do not require as much repentance as others. Unless you continue to do the sin, even knowing you are doing it, and knowing you sould not.

I don't know how the sin of cold blooded murder is no worse than filching a candy at e store.

Are you saying sins aren't different?

So let me get this straight... you think someone who murders thirty people in cold blood is the same as someone who has an angry thought enter their mind?

Of course there are degrees of sin and yes none can be forgiven without the atonement of Christ, that doesn't make them all the same though.

to answer your question YES, "Mormons" teach different degrees of sin and yes they teach all sin can be forgiven only through the atonement of Christ.

Have a good night.

PS you should count yourself lucky almost everything I type has some errors in it! lol
