not all atheists do that, and some christians also mock atheists "faith". and about the morals, so are you saying only christians have good morals? everyone has their own. there are parts i extremely disagree with for christianity, like a person can get into heaven, even hitler, as long as they believe in god. plus the whole idea of hell, thats just wrong

I am not an atheist per se, but some Christians just ask for it. There is nothing wrong with believing in God, if that makes you happy, and I am happy for you. The main Christians that have tried to convert me over the years, if you want to call them that (I know some don't), are Jehovah's Witnesses. I will admit that they came close a few times, most recently only a couple of years back. But they blew it, by mistreating my wife and I before they got us baptised. Ah, that was our good luck. So we ended up in the Church of Christ cult, and I am still an agnostic (tho I was a New Age minister for several years. A friend trying to poison my wife and I led to our eventual loss of faith, I think. We did very nearly die, or at least sure felt like we was goners.). Okay, I know, I am a hypocrite for attending church and pretending to believe. Yes, I do feel bad about that. Oh, well.

I'm curious about this statement: "there's nothing wrong with believing in moral values is there?"

The way this is worded makes it sound like atheists are amoral in addition to atheist. That'd couldn't be further from the truth, as atheists have moral values, just as much as Christians do. There's nothing special about Christianity that makes you any more moral than an atheist, Jew, Muslim, or any other faith (or lack of). Maybe that's why Christians get mocked, because they portray non-Christians in such a light.

EDIT: Seconding what BlueOctagon said

There is nothing wrong in believing in moral values and there is nothing wrong wrong in believing in imaginary master ..... but it is definitely on my nerve when these peoples says I have no moral because I do not believe in an imaginary master, I am going to hell or I am a fool because their book says so. It is BELITTLING me.

You mean to say it is alright for christians to belittle others while others are not allowed to belittle christians' faith? I am not supposed to push and o take it down when you are pushing me to the wall? double standard, isn't it?

--------

Now you said you hated stereotyping, but yet you stereotype atheist as people with no morality. Christians' traits? (ok ..... not all christians are like that, as I had often mentioned, I know a bunch of merry christians)

Faith is belief in a claim despite the lack of evidence.
Irrational faith is belief in the claim despite contrary evidence.

If you have faith in the existence of a loving God, you harm no one. I think the God of the Bible doesn't match this definition, and that there is contrary evidence, so I think you have irrational faith. But if you practice your faith by yourself, you harm no one except possibly yourself.

However, if you try to impose your irrational faith on others, then you harm others. You personally may not do this, but far too many Christians are doing this today, and causing great harm to their world. I've been willing to be silent about this for more than 25 years, believing that each person is entitled to have their faith. But the risks are too great now, so I speak out.

We have moral values too, sweetpea.

There is nothing, in my opinion, "wrong" about your having faith. It is when you tell others that what they think, feel, and believe is wrong (and punishable) that you make people mad.

Don't get me wrong. I do not ever go out of my way to mock any person for their religious beliefs. I am sometimes sarcastic, but I do try not to be hurtful. However, sometimes enough is enough. I have been called evil, ignorant, immoral, unethical, and subhuman by people professing to "love" me and follow Christ. I sincerely hope that, rather than get angry at ticked off non-Christians, your religion will learn that its turn-or-burn, holier-than-thou attitude harms you more than it helps ANYone.

You know, I was almost with you until you said "There is nothing wrong with believing moral values". You see, those morals are a result of civilization and thankfully not the Bible as the result would be horrific. We all have morals and believing in a God does not some how magically instill them.

You first, leave us out of it and this question would have never happened. Also there is nothing wrong with believing in god as long as it doesn't hurt anyone, and so far religion has FAILED at that. belittle your faith? I didn't think that was possible, unless your faith isn't as strong as you claim it to be.

Get a restraining order? That's ludicrous! Pairs of boys riding bikes and wearing white shirts are now by law banned from coming within 500' of my door. Crazy! I believe you unknowingly have self-mocked.

I don't belittle the faith. I have no problem with Christians or christianity in general.

I have a problem with people who choose to ignore all science because of their religion. And those who keep attempting to convert others, like you mentioned.

But in general, I have no problem with them.
