I really like Fuji's and Pink Ladies they both are pretty consistent in flavor from one apple to the next. Pink Ladies are more tart than Granny Smith's but sweeter. There are well over 200 varieties of apples grown throughout the world. These links should give you way more information than you need to find the apple that's right for your tastes as welll as finding the best times of the year to eat your favorite apples.

Fuji Apple is the best - juicy and sweet! Everytime I think of Fuji Apple, my mouth just waters.

I love Gala apples. They have a wonderful flavor and a good firm texture - not meely. Rome apples are good, too. I find that Red & Golden Delicious apples are to meely for my taste, and dont have as much flavor.

In our house, we like Royal Galas. They're good for both just eating out of hand and they are great in crisps and pies too. They taste sweet with almost a hint of pear.My suggestion though, don't buy more than you can eat in say a week's time, they start out quite firm but tend to get kind of soft and mushy the longer you have them.

Granny Smith for baking. Golden Delicious for eating fresh.

My favorite tasting apple is Gala. They also last a long time after you buy them.

I like the Fuji,it is good eating out of hand, excellent in pies, and great in crisps. It cans well and makes great applesauce. What more could you ask for!
