I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to get annoyed when my one girlfriend and I go out for drinks. As soon as we get in the bar, she singles out whatever guy she thinks is hot and says automatically, he's mine! Then I feel bad when they start hitting on me and I have to politely brush them off for her sake. What really sucks is because sometimes I like them too!! She is a big girl, so she makes it a point to say that they only talked to her, to get to me because I'm skinny... oh that's so annoying!! What can I do or say to tell her to chill out.

I'm not sure if you can say anything that she probably wouldn't be offended. You need to start thinking of yourself a little more and if you like a guy don't brush them off because of her . Does she brush any of the guys away because of you, I doubt it. She needs to get more self esteem .

Dear Redhdgr,

First off, I would like to know why you continue to allow this kind of abusive behavior? It's not just men that can be emotionally harmful to a female. We as women tend to have the need to brush off things that are hurtful to us. Which is not such a good thing. We have a lot of forgiveness in us. Nevertheless. Have you tried going out to these hangouts by yourself ? Are you insecure in any way that compels you to bring her along? Obviously your not having the good time that you could be having. And believe me the men around this sense it. You would probably get approached even more if she wasn't there. Your friend's insecurities and jealousies are not your responsibility. I would be very candid with her and tell her that her behavior and negative attitude is not welcome, especially in public. Any friend, girl or boyfriend is suppose to help build on positive things and ideas. If she really cares about your feelings she will back off. If she does nothing to improve her attitude I would dump her as a club hopping friend and all around so-called friend. A true friend wants to see you do good and want happiness for you.
I wish you all the luck Dear.

Sincerely,

Marseille

Just tell her,"Listen we are both adults last time I checked and if you have a problem with someone hitting on me that you think is cute then maybe we don't need to hang out if it bothers you." She is just going to have to face reality. The sooner the better for your friendships sake. If she can't grow up and deal with her own insecurities then "whatever" you know. She's only thinking of herself. Me and my girls are happy for each other when we get to hook up or flirt with a man that's hot. You can't claim someone (a man) that you don't even know. So what if you're prettier. Jealousy is an ugly thing.

Tell her the next time you guys go out, If she sees someone thats hot, tell her to go talk to him. And if she doesn't, telll her your gonna talk to him. Stand your ground.
I undertsand friends are friends, but if she has insecurity problems thats not your fault. If she says they go through her to see you because your skinny. She already sees whats wrong with her. She just doesn't want to admit to it.
If she is starting to get annoying, then stand your ground and give her advice. Dont second guess your advice. Just give it to her. Bad or good. If she is a friend she should undertsand. If she doesn't well thats the hard part.
